Just a hunch, but if they feel dire to move up and it seems they feel unsettled at CB.....Cant shake the feeling that while CP thinks they want Hughes or Davis, Jaire Alexander is the actual target.

My favorites are Josh Jackson and Isaiah Oliver as far as fits for KC. KC doesn't normally go for the small corners, so I think those two make the most sense. I think, for Oliver, KC will have to get ahead of CLE at 33 and I wouldn't be surprised if Dorsey makes a move to get up into the late first for him. As for Jackson, I believe he's much more of a pipe dream but we'll see how it shakes. Some guys, like Jeremiah, have him dropping out of round 1 while others have him in the middle of round 1. He's short on starts, much like Hughes and Oliver, but his production in that time is insane and he has the athleticism you want. |

Fuller and Nelson are both under 6’0. We need true outside guys, not more nickel/slot corners. Alexander is electric, and yes, he has played outside and inside, but I don’t know if his college success will transfer over to NFL success. While Hughes is no bigger than Alexander, I think J. Jackson, C. Davis and I. Oliver are better scheme fits given what is already on the roster. |

The only reason I picked Carlton Davis in this mock is that: 1) I don't normally mock trades in these and, 2) I am a bit hesitant about the trade-up scenario and I think he's the guy that has the most likely chance of falling to 54. I think Davis is a quality pick at 54, but he's not a guy I'd move up for. I definitely would trade up for Jackson or Oliver, but I'd prefer that trade contained the 2nd the Chiefs got from the Rams and not much of picks for this year. The one team that fits as a trade partner the most using that idea is New England. Bill has 4 picks in the first two rounds, including a high 2nd at #43, right now and we all know he loves accumulating 2nd rounders. I'd certainly PREFER KC got Jackson at 31 with a trade of 54 and the 2019 2nd round pick. I think some other teams, like SEA and PHI, they are going to want picks this year which I've come to fall more out of favor of. |
I watched Veach’s presser again and I don’t know if he’s blowing smoke or not. It just seems like teams “know” we are trying to move up for a corner.
I’m not entirely sold on that fact. It doesn’t seem like Veach would tell you his plans or make them public more than a week before the draft (when that report came out). He also mentioned 2 corners on the roster that he liked. I’m wondering if he wants to trade up, but not for a corner...maybe for another position like pass rusher? It is lying season and corner is very deep as opposed to pass rusher. |
Just wanted to mention in an aside here that NFLDraftScout.com dropped Billy Price down to 2nd-3rd round with a 72nd overall ranking. Seems teams are concerned about his immediate availability to start the 2018 season with that pectoral injury not healing as quickly as first thought.
The deal for me is, it will heal at some point and he's a legitimate first-round player. My opinion is that if he gets close to pick 78, maybe in the late 60's, I'd like for the Chiefs to move up and grab him. A player with his ability at that point would be an absolute steal. Edit: By the way, they slid board favorite Frank Ragnow up to 46 when they made that adjustment. Personal thought is that he doesn't make it by the Giants in round 2. |

i threw one together using Gil Brandt's top 150. No trades. No players taken that are not still on the board.

2018 "What I Want" Mock Draft
I’ll follow Coogs lead & do that same from the MMQB’s Big Board of Top 100.
54. Jessie Bates, S, Wake Forest 78. Tarvarvus McFadden, CB, Florida State 86. Shaquem Griffin, LB/DB, UCF Comments: I was targeting Isaiah Oliver, Carlton Davis, Ronnie Harrison, Will Hernandez, Billy Price & Sam Hubbard but they were off the board by pick 54. I had to make a choice of either Jessie Bates, Tim Settle or Armani Watts. Bates was the pick. I wanted to go defense again with an emphasis on CB if one fell to me. One did! I like McFadden’s length & press ability. He maybe somewhat slow but he’s the perfect Sutton CB. My other choices were Chad Thomas, Dorance Armstrong & Braden Smith. I want this Griffin kid on my team. Sutton needs to find a spot to play him but his heart & desire will make up for any deficiencies he has. I could have picked Nick Nelson, Kemoko Turay or Rashaan Gaulden. It was a tough call between Gaulden & Griffin but I went Griffin because of his heart. I would have went further but their big board only went 100. |
