There's no reason for either side to sign an extension any time soon.

Mahomes and the Chiefs would both be wise to wait until the new TV contracts have been signed, which will greatly benefit both parties and create an atmosphere of trust moving forward.

Signing an extension now only means restructures over the coming years and uncertainty in free agency.
