I'm having a hard time enjoying the direction college football is headed. No one cares about a mercenary, you use them until the job is done or they fall off the line. A large percentage of players still need developed over time and a system of essentially being able to hire, fire, and poach them from other programs at will is not going to be good for a lot of these kids.

... and **** these letters essentially asking alumni for NIL donations. We were already getting several fundraising/donation letters a year and now they want us to fund the players too? **** off with that shit.

I did buy some of the football cards that send a percentage of the money to the kids' pockets through an NIL deal. Interesting concept. Shit cards. I now have an on card auto that will probably be worthless forever and a stack of cardboard I should just use to start the fireplace with.

The regular season has been amazing the past few years the playoffs are actually interesting. NIL actually gives more programs a chance to be competitive. The biggest knock is thousands of kids enter the portal but not all of them come out better the supply outweighs the demand. There does need to be some structure.

I know an individual that tutored a DE. The perks and benefits that DE was receiving was sickening. Hard to look at sports the same.

you can’t stop it. That train has left the building. These super conferences run everything from now on.

Because if they don’t, those conferences will start their own version of the NCAA. All the TV and cable money would go with them and the gap between the schools and conferences will widen even more.

I've stopped following college sports outside of KSU football games and don't even follow them like I used to. It's sickening.

I haven't had a problem with the quality of games and would prefer an even bigger playoff. It could have been very interesting this year with the extra teams in it.

I just no longer care about the players. They're now here today and gone tomorrow. With no loyalty flowing either way there's just no ****s to give. The reactions to injuries is going to be even more interesting. None of this is what college athletics are supposed to be about and I'm not sure it's a positive for anyone in the long term.

We're going to see the affects of this stuff show up in the NFL.

I am souring more and more on college sports. Bleeding hearts have ruined it. Never going to be like it was.

KSU football paid/brought to you by Farmland and IH/CASE! The patches on the uniforms will look nice.

Exactly.

Throwing open the gates and turning it into the Wild West is somehow the most irresponsible thing the NCAA has ever done. That's an INCREDIBLY high bar folks.

yet here we are.

It wasn't the NCAA. It was the Supreme Court, who basically said if the NCAA tries to put any restrictions on NIL they will get sued and lose.

I think that proposal is dead in the water because of the Title IX component.

You can get people to kick in and buy shit for the star recruits/players of a football team or men’s basketball team (at the right places).

For a women’s soccer player or basketball player or a cross country athlete, that’s a much tougher sell.

As it should be a tough sell. Those men basketball and football players bring in the money to the university. They deserve some of that money. Cross country athlete programs cost money. Why should they get any money?

At the same time you look at a school like Colorado yes they suck but that was a program dead in the water the portal & Deion made for some of the most entertaining ball week in and week out. I've never watched as much Colorado football in my life.

Then you have a school like yours. I don't think MU was ever a serious playoff contender pre NIL. Now? I think you can make a pretty strong case we see them in the 12 team playoff team next year.

Then you have your programs like a Nebraska. Not a chance without the portal that team doesn't contend for a bowl next year with the shape it was left in by consecutive awful coaching hires. A good QB addition in the portal and they will be a very competitive team next year.

Then you have schools like Boise St or whoever which to be honest I never gave a shit about and yeah they are ****ed but I never cared for those Kellen Moore era teams. Yeah cute story they beat up on teams in a shit division and got lucky in some bowl games whatever
