TEACUP PIG

Anyway, not a good episode. They've been lackluster lately. Big Bang Theory is much better.

I am almost done with this show and i absolutely loved the first 3 seasons. They dragged out the mom thing to much.

I still love it. They can have a few crap eps every year. Have they dragged it too far, maybe. But it is still funny.

irishjayhawk 03-02-2010 05:48 AM

I just caught up and this was the first episode I intentionally watched live.

I was disappointed but when you watch them via DVD it's clear that it a) hasn't dragged on too far b) could go for a little while longer and c) hasn't jumped the shark.

Course, IMO.

Great Expectations 03-02-2010 08:51 AM

I still like the show, but The Big Bang Theory is much better.

So, will they rename the show "After I met your mother"?

Those two kids of his are probably about ready to strangle him.

If you're watching HIMYM to find out who the mother is, you're not watching for the right reasons. It's akin to watching House for the medical mysteries while missing the bigger story: House and the supporting characters' interactions.

Exactly. I'm not watching this show to see the actual process of Ted getting married and having kids.

Last night's episode was one of the best of the season, I thought.

Scherbatsky's new guy did too good a job of playing a closet case on Big Love. It's gonna take time to overcome me picturing him as Alby's boy toy.

Man, Big Bang Theory is, quite possibly, better than HIMYM. It is awesome. Not as quotable but definitely more laugh for your minute.

007 04-19-2010 11:27 PM

OK, seeing the mother from Heroes as a Mellencamp was just plain odd.

I can best describe Big Bang Theory in this way. Imagine 3-4 really dorky Ted's from How I Met Your Mother. That is what Big Bang Theory is, except w/ a hot chick. It's terrible. I hate Ted and I hate Big Bang Theory.

That's not the issue. It could go on for a while without him meeting her but what's troubling is the humor which, currently, is lazy and pathetic.

The season started fairly strong but it has definitely gone downhill the last 5 or so eps.

DaFace 04-20-2010 03:53 PM

My main issue with the show is that it's very "punch line" based these days. Not that the end of each show is a joke, but they basically figure out some moral of the story that they want to tell and then design a plot around it. That results in some very weak plots and even weaker characters. All of them are wishy-washy as hell this season.

DaneMcCloud 04-20-2010 04:00 PM

The show is weak now. I HATE the phony laugh track and only one out of every four episodes is memorable or quote-worthy.

It feels like the final three seasons of "Friends", which was once a very good show that just drug on way, way, way, way too long.

They need to introduce Ted's wife to be and get this thing moving.

I'll never watch it in real-time because it's time just not worth wasting.

Silock 04-20-2010 04:16 PM

Who watches TV in real-time now, anyway? :) GET WITH THE TIMES, DANE!!!!!

kcxiv 04-20-2010 04:24 PM

I been saying for awhile now, this show dragged on. ITs just eh right now. I invested a few season in this, i want to see who the Mother is already.

Great first few seasons, then nothing, they could have at least introduced her and they didnt click at first or something, but ****, show her already.

Dude, I HAVE to watch LOST in real time. Seriously, that show has me so freakin' hooked that I'm in front of the TV at 8:58 each Tuesday night waiting for it to start.

Oh, and Mad Men.

Silock 04-20-2010 04:34 PM

lol

I generally have to record EVERYTHING because of night classes. Sucks in some ways, but at least I never have to worry about commercials.

I don't understand Mad Men. I just finished Season 1. I'm still baffled as to why Don cheats on his hot wife all the time. I'm hoping it becomes a little clearer.

Deberg_1990 04-20-2010 04:35 PM

There's not many sitcoms or tv shows that are really good or funny after about 5 or 6 seasons...

This one could have been if they developed the story further. They have been in a ****ing standstill really for a while.

Deberg_1990 04-20-2010 04:46 PM

Its just really hard to sustain characters and storyline for years and years.....Lost was smart to finally end it after 6.

Mad Men is a character study of "Don Draper". As they creators delve deeper in Don's psyche, some of your questions will be answered.

Personally, I think this show is as good as the Sopranos at its height of creativity and the show only gets better in seasons two and three.

I still think this is a great sitcom. Hilarious episode last Monday. Wrestlers and Robots. I guess I don't expect much out of comedy sitcoms. IMO, they aren't there to tell a story or have some good ending. They are there for clever writing, funny jokes, and laughs. It's not a soap opera, it's just a never ending comedy. They have set it up end, but I expect them to milk it as long as they can.

007 05-11-2010 07:41 PM

Well, they are getting at least one more year out of it as it was renewed for next year.

They had better wrap it up soon. Last night's epi was pretty good but as I stated earlier, it's like one in four these days.

I think the show has become stale the past two season and still rare to see back-to-back quality episodes.

That said, they can stretch it as long as the ratings hold.

Silock 02-09-2011 02:52 PM

My prediction is that the "mother" won't have any plotlines at all and will basically be a throw-in on the very last episode of the show. It's just a matter of how long they can keep it going before they get cancelled.

Bill Lundberg 02-22-2011 10:58 AM

I canceled them about two years ago when they started doing musicals. It was a good show but lost its luster rather quickly in the Lundberg household...

I told my wife we were never watching "How I Never Met Your Mother" again. If you're going to base a show on a premise, then stick to the gawdamm premise. I've pretty much just been watching it for Barney anyway and his character jumped the shark when he banged Robin.

This show has become unwatchable, yet it's still in the Top 15 of all network shows according to the Nielsen Prime Time ratings.

This nonsense could continue on for years.

Free Network television? Absolutely.

But if we're talking overall, I'm partial to East Bound and Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Californication before Modern Family (which do think is a brilliant show).

Season Two of EBAD was, as Kenny Powers would say, ****ing epic.

As much as the show had it's good moments in the latter half of Season 7, the finale will probably just piss you off.
