I take it that the "surround yourself with brilliant people" strategy isn't going so well... ;)

It's just not fun when you tee it up like that...

Yeah, most Missouri fans have a hatred for success.. I never knew it was something you had to experience to appreciate.

Four different teams have won the 11 previous titles at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men痴 Basketball Championship. Kansas has won the most with five crowns, followed by Oklahoma (3), Oklahoma State (2) and Iowa State (1). The Jayhawks captured the postseason title last year, their first since winning the initial three league postseason championships from 1997-99.

Kansas Basketball: 50 Conference Championships, 12 Final Fours, 4 National Championships, 1905 All-Time Div. I Victories

Yes easily compared to the Yankees

Natty_Light_Man 03-22-2007 03:35 PM

AS I depart to prepare for the evening sporting spectacular activities, I leave this for my fellow Salukis....

Certain Victory

Though life presents you
With many obstacles,
Fight on

Though despair descends
Over you like a dark cloud,
Fight on

Though the world
Turns its back on you,
Fight on

Though illness and pain
Put you to the test,
Fight on

Though you try and try
And never seem to win,
Fight on

Though you are abandoned
By friends and family,
Fight on

And never bow your head,
To those who seek to overcome
You through subterfuge and guile

Stand your ground,
And certainly you will
Be victorious!

ArrowheadHawk 03-22-2007 03:41 PM

The Jayhawk Prayer:

OUR FATHER,
WHO ART IN LAWRENCE
HALLOWED BY THY GAME.
THY TOURNEY COME,
THY CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE DONE
IN ATLANTA,
AS IT IS IN ALLEN FIELD HOUSE.
GIVE US THIS DAY
OUR DESERVED VICTORIES.
AND FORGIVE US OUR TURNOVERS,
AS WE FORGIVE ROY
WHO DOUBLE-CROSSED AGAINST US.
AND LEAD US NOT INTO DEFEAT
BUT DELIVER US FROM EAST COAST BIAS
FOR KANSAS IS
THY BASKETBALL KINGDOM,
AND THE TRADITION,
AND THE GLORY,
FOREVER AND EVER.
AMEN.

Our leader who art in Allen
Bill Self be thy name
Thy fast break come,
Thy dunk be done,
in Atlanta as it is in Allen,
Give us this day our daily threes
and forgive us our turnovers,
as we forgive those who set picks against us,
And deliver us from upsets.
For thine is the Regular Season,
and the Tournament,
and the National Championship.
Now and forever.
ROCK-CHALK-JAYHAWK
AMEN

Beak'em Hawks!

Baby Lee 03-22-2007 03:52 PM

If the Jayhawks are in Atlanta right now, we're fooked.

wait, I can't NOT photoshop their logo on it.

Mr. Laz 03-22-2007 04:11 PM

we need to be ready to play different styles tonight.

salukis are pretty short ........ so going big with a lineup of good shooters and big men might dominate.

Kaun,Arthur,Wright,Rush,Chalmers(point)

let chalmers and Rush shoot from outside ... let the big men dominate the boards in case they miss. It could completely wreck their great defense by losing on rebounds.

or .....

we might be able to run them before they get their defense set. In that case you go Arthur,Wright, Rush, chalmers,Robinson.

rotate Arthur with jackson to keep a fresh big man in.

maybe use both ....... but we need to see which works best and go with it.

my 2 cents

L.A. Chieffan 03-22-2007 04:13 PM

Go Bruins. :D

I agree... we'll be in this mode all weekend (even if we lose, we'll be defensive about it.. heh), so we need to go into the weekend with the idea that we can't rely on just wearing a team down or just fastbreak points, etc.... which we seem to do well at already.

My DVR says I get OSU/Tennessee tonight and not UCLA/Pitt, which is nice... I'd like to watch the game for obvious reasons, but it might be too painful. :(

we played slow for the most all year

we decided to run when we hit the tourney

i think we caught some people really off guard with that switch. We need to continue to switch is up and force other teams to prepare for both styles.

Dude, are you blind? We didn't just start running when we got to the tourney. I think KU would like to try to run against SIU. But looking at how low their rebound numbers are and how they are supposedly a great defense, I would guess that they don't crash the boards much. Instead, they probably will get everybody back as soon as they know a shot is up.

KCFalcon59 03-22-2007 05:03 PM

Here we go Jayhawks!!! Woo hoo.

Ultra Peanut 03-22-2007 05:11 PM

supercoupe91 03-22-2007 05:19 PM

SIU isnt hitting shots. Good night, sweet princes...this game is about to blown apart.

Shit.

noa 03-22-2007 05:20 PM

Glad Sasha didn't get whistled for a foul there

Crush 03-22-2007 05:20 PM

ha

Lzen 03-22-2007 05:21 PM

Wow, so far everything is going KU's way. I like the way they are attacking. I didn't figure SIU would allow that so easily.

noa 03-22-2007 05:22 PM

Its still early, but things are looking good now. I hope we can stay out of foul trouble.

Mr. Laz 03-22-2007 05:24 PM

that shouldn't of counted ........ didn't beat the clock.

Lzen 03-22-2007 05:24 PM

Wow,KU got a break there. Buzzer went off before the shot.

Hootie 03-22-2007 05:24 PM

RUH ROOOOOH...I smell an upset and I'm not even kidding.

Hootie 03-22-2007 05:25 PM

but I'm rooting for KU if it makes anyone feel better...

Mr. Laz 03-22-2007 05:26 PM

dammit wright ......... he can't let that rebound put back happen.

Hootie 03-22-2007 05:27 PM

SIU is getting open looks and KU isn't...if SIU can nail some threes I don't see how the **** KU is going to compete here...Chalmers looks like he's going to pee himself any minute.

supercoupe91 03-22-2007 05:27 PM

I trust you...SIU will win this game if they can manage to shoot 35-40% from downtown...easier said then done, I know.

Mr. Laz 03-22-2007 05:30 PM

this is really good for our guards

normally they just run with impunity ... now they have to work.

good experience .... they get lazy sometimes.

Dude, all we've been hearing all week is how SIU's defense makes opposing players drop after awhile. So are you pulling for KU in this tourney? I would think you would because it would benefit the B12 conference. ;)

Mr. Laz 03-22-2007 05:34 PM

SIU looks a bit nervous to me

noa 03-22-2007 05:35 PM

Nice...This ref is really enthusiastic when he makes a call

We need to get it inside and get them in foul trouble.
