I'm amazed that their strength of schedule is so high. They must give Illinois and Nebraska a lot of credit for their 3-2 records?

I am surprised that KU is so low considering they played Iowa State.

KU isn't a top 10 team, though, and nobody thought they would be. So that loss isn't entirely surprising, nor does it make or break our season.

Hmmm...so this playing and losing to a ranked team, So. Florida with SOS of 50 is better than playing and beating a now non-ranked team Illinois with a SOS of 10. I see your point, now STFU.

Any upset over the four ranked teams left on the schedule would be very impressive wins. We don't need to win any of those games to be in a bowl, though.

It would be an upset to beat anyof those teams..not going to happen...come on give us your game by game prediction.....and how high of a bowl....

KC_Connection 10-05-2008 05:23 PM

Texas Tech at home looks like a possible upset to me. KU, when going well, has the offense that can keep up with them. But we'll see, won't we?

We've had 2 losses in the last 18 games, and proved ourselves by winning the Orange Bowl last season over VT. I'd say the players are doing pretty well, wouldn't you?

OK, stop. One of the committee members for the Orange Bowl was quoted as saying that the Orange Bowl wanted teams with no more than one loss. When pressed, the guy would not comment on whether the thought KU was the team to take over Missouri, or if they deserved to be there, just that they wanted teams with just one loss. Your AD didn't play any game or have dick to do with getting the Orange Bowl. Kansas pulled an Ohio State and benefitted by not having to play in the conference championship game, period.

Absolutely. It makes no sense to take a team from a conference that can't even make it's own championship game and put them in a BCS game. I'm assuming they thought they were getting a "better" team just because they had one loss. Like I said - KU pulled an Ohio State.

TrebMaxx 10-05-2008 05:44 PM

Coaches Poll MU 2 > KU 15
AP Poll MU 3 > KU 16

MU SOS 4 > KU SOS 64

That is all.

Unlike you, I don't believe everything I hear. It's naive to believe there weren't any backroom politics. That's the way these bowls work.

I find it amazing that you are now defending KU's invite to the Orange Bowl was due to backroom politics and not based on how they played. Really, I think you should give up and take a break.:doh!:

This isn't secondhand stuff I'm telling you. It came directly from the mouth of one of the Ornage Bowl committee members. They wanted a team with one loss. That is why Missouri didn't play for the Orange Bowl.

This thread really went to hell.

Scoreboard, Orange Bowl, fraud, Orange Bowl, Oklahoma this year, Oklahoma last year, turf picture, National Championship, scoreboard.

Mizzou was better than Kansas last year. Mizzou is better than Kansas this year. Kansas won the Orange Bowl last year. Mizzou will more than likely win a BCS bowl this year.

Can't we all just forget our differences and laugh at Nebraska in unison?

BWillie 10-05-2008 05:59 PM

I think some KU fans need to come down to reality. Missouri is a great football team. IMO, LSU and Missouri were the two best teams in the country last year but Missouri just couldn't find a way to beat Oklahoma. It happens. Missouri is better than Kansas this year. They just are. Kansas was alot closer to Missouri last year than this year. If anything, I think we are overrated a little bit this year, whereas last year KU was underrated. That #7 year end rating we had after beating #3 VA TECH in the Orange Bowl was a crock of shit.

See, now don't we all feel a little better about ourselves and the college football team we follow? Life is a little better when we can forget who burned down which town, who benefited from slavery, which school has zero sports tradition, and who may or may not be homosexual. We can stand tall from Lawrence to Columbia, look North, and say: "Isn't karma a bitch?"
