Yet, "addition by subtraction" makes it SO much more "hip" and "palatable"!

How do you get rid of Dick Curl?

He's the one coach I wish we kept. The name, his look and his old school demeanor were classic.

He did such a great job that the Chiefs had to rely on the pistol even in goal to goal situations because Thigpen's mechanics in a pro set were so advanced.

MMXcalibur 01-26-2009 08:41 PM

Maybe the Lions and Rams are hiring our coordinators because they strive to be as great as we were last year? :)

RealSNR 01-26-2009 08:53 PM

The Chiefs are the best 2-14 team ever. The Rams look up to us.

After conversating with Chris Ault, he informed me the pistol is equally as effective near the goal line as your big set with 0/1 WRs.

Why would that be the case? It doesn't make sense.

You have less than one yard to go. Your offense can't generate enough power to move the ball that short distance on 4 tries?

banyon 01-26-2009 09:05 PM

But who will be in charge of clock management with both Curl and Herm gone?

I nominate little Billy, the kid who got to run out and get the tee after opening kickoff. He would undoubtedly be an upgrade.

Isn't it obvious.

Hermanation.

If there were a football stat called Coaching Above Replacement Level, we've subtracted -3000 points of CARL in this offseason alone.

Craqhead 01-27-2009 06:08 AM

Buh bye!!!

SenselessChiefsFan 01-27-2009 08:09 AM

Funny how a guy that all the Chiefs fans just knew was incompetent was hired by one of the bright up and comers in the league.

And instead of reconsidering that position, the fans imediately think that the Rams have made some huge error.

Funny, how we all know so much more than these professionals, when most of the fans have never played organized football past High School, and have never coached the game on any level.

Dick Curl had a good resume. It is impossible to evaluate him completely from where the fans sit. However, he did a good job with Thigpen and Croyle.

Oh, AND, he is the one who made the decision to bring in Thigpen. Ray Farmer came to Curl with a list of guys, and Dick Curl picked out Tyler Thigpen.

But, of course, he was a total moron.

good job with Croyle? He taught Croyle to dump off instead of letting a play develop. With Thigpen? I give the credit to Chan Gailey. Funny you didn't mention Huard.

Your infatuation with the Goon squad is curious.

Bill Kuharich was the guy who recommended the Chiefs trade for Thigpen, source: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11256515/2

Provide your source (and Bob Gretz's slobering tongue in your ear doesn't qualify) that Dick Curl was the guy who made the decision to bring in Thigpen.

You call yourself "Sensible Chiefs Fan", but from everything I've ever read of yours, I'm thinking "As long as the stadium has games and a team, why rock the boat Fan" would be more appropriate.

"Czar of Russia Chiefs Fan"?
"Reign of King Carl Chiefs Fan"?
"Queen Elizabeth II Chiefs Fan"?

There's really nothing funny about any of those points. Don't quit your day job, Gallagher. :shake:

I don't think it's entirely without merit. You can't give Chan all the props for making this O look presentable. Tyler was coached by curl, so he looks like a genious.
don't get me wrong though. I don't care if he stays or goes. I want pioli to run this team totally his way. I trust in him right now.

no, but living here I do talk to alot of rams fans. they are excited because he was hired by spags and they want to trust him to get the team turned around.

anyone else notice the paradoxical parallelism between certain parts of the two teams fanbase?

How did he do a "good job" with Brodie Croyle? By rubbing his back in the training room? Based on Croyle's on the field performance, what is the basis for your claim that Curl did a "good job" with Croyle?

*Chuckle* ... I love the CARL idea, but wish we could apply it to the GM position instead (for obvious reasons). Competence Above Replacement Level, perhaps?

Dylan 01-27-2009 01:11 PM

Now that Spags is not coming here, remind me to post an article or two from the 2008 season, that I held off posting.

Lets just say, that the coach Spags' had to rely on big time during the games from up in the booth -- decided to say with the Giants.

Wish Spags the best and I'll always be grateful to him.

Absolutely right.

We should reconsider our position on Gunther, too, because he was also hired by an up and cummer.

Coaches and players, especially Gonzo--future HOFers know teh most--are teh truth.

And now Jimmy Raye is interviewing with the 49ers for OC. Guy looks like a cadaver. Was shocked to learn that he's only 62.

I just don't understand how these guys who have had such little success keep getting recycled. College football is not like that.

When Mike Singletary wants a draw on 3rd and long, Jimmy Raye will call the draw.

Singletary is going to fail. I'm fine with old guys if they are competent, but going after old guys just because they are old and old-school doesn't seem like a winning plan.

I am not a huge fan of Jimmy Raye, but he did get Grbac to his only Pro Bowl.

This is probably his business card:

Jimmy Raye.
I got Grbac to the Pro Bowl.
AKA: Offensive Genius
