I'd take Tennessee, Georgia and possibly even South Carolina, Auburn and Arkansas over BYU. Hell, BYU got kicked around by Florida State.

BYU is your standard for a strong conference opponent?

ARLINGTON, Texas — As BYU prepares to face No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday, it's hard to ignore the Cougars' futility against ranked nonconference opponents.

BYU has dropped 12 consecutive games to ranked nonconference opponents and since joining the Mountain West Conference in 1999, the Cougars are 2-13 against teams ranked in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

The last time the Cougars beat a ranked nonconference foe was in 1998, when they downed No. 14 Arizona State at home, 26-6.

The last time BYU defeated a ranked nonconference opponent on a neutral field was on New Year's Day, 1997, with a 19-15 victory over No. 14 Kansas State in the Cotton Bowl.

And the last time the Cougars knocked off a nonconference team ranked in the Top 10 occurred in 1990, when they upset No. 1 Miami in Provo, 28-21.

In his four years at the helm, BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall owns a 1-6 mark against ranked opponents.

seriously, if big conference teams shy away from playing us, and yet it takes playing big conference teams to prove something, apparently....and if winning by margins over 30 against our conference teams doesn't prove that something....wtf is TCU to do? seriously....wtf more do you want?

 So you're trying to argue that those schools are football powerhouses now?

FTR, if Florida/Alabama and Texas are undefeated they should be in the NC. If Texas loses (which I doubt will happen) then TCU should go.

Now for a complete picture why don't you pull up Utah and TCU's records against non-conference ranked opponents.

Yes I am. I'll give you Florida and LSU as being consistently good (powerhouses) but the other ones no.

Do you still say Utah is an example of a solid football team in the Mountain West Conference or will you choode to ignore your ignorant and completely false statement?

ROFL

That's rich. Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn aren't perennial football powers, but BYU is more of a quality conference opponent. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

Hmm.. a couple days ago I thought I counted eleven teams in the Mountain West. So, TCU had four non-conference opponents?

Guess that shows how little I know about the Mountain West.

They should schedule a conference championship game though. That always helps at the end of the year. A TCU-BYU or TCU-Utah game this late in the season might help to push them up the ranks at the end of the year.

Teams typically schedule 3 or more years in advance. TCU wasn't in the Championship picture 3 years ago. They currently have Oklahoma scheduled for 2012.

Where did I say they were more of a quality conference opponent? I said they were a quality opponent. Please show me anywhere that I have tried to say that TCU's schedule is more difficult or that we have more quality conference opponents.

Um, if we would have gone undefeated then yes we were. TCU has been solid for the last 8-9 years. We also scheduled them two years ago.

They better not. C-USA is a joke. TCU left C-USA because it was a basketball conference and we wanted a more of a football conference.

 Yea I'm a bandwagoner because I didn't follow where Cincinati went after TCU left C-USA. Seriously, eat a dick vail. I notice you're too cowardly to throw your usual insults at me on the main board. Any particular reason other than your usual bitchassness?
