3. OG Asamoah
4. CB Cromartie (via trade)
5. WR Holmes (via trade)

As for the "We can beat any team we play" remark, Im pretty sure any team that actually considers themselves able to win a championship damn well better have that mentality approaching the season.

The alleged "shit talk" is only shit talk because its getting aired on HBO. From what I understand the organization is supposed to go about things as if the cameras arent even there.

Anyone calling Ryan a buffoon for setting an expectation that he wants to win every game they play, and instilling a mindset in the players that they can defeat any team that they play needs to wake up and smell what they are shovelling.

See, let me tell you where the problem will start. when you have a big fat loud mouth that is being everybody's good friend when things are going good and telling people how great they are. lol..when they have a bad streak and they arent playing well you cant all of a sudden become a hardass. it doesnt work like that.

When the Jets were 7-7 last year he was crying saying the season was over ROFL

Sorry Dude, this is just plain silly.

Rex Ryan has been an excellent position coach and defensive coordinator and I have no reason to believe he won't be an excellent head coach.

As long as his defense is in the Top Five and his offense ascending, he can talk "shit" all he wants.

I'm curious to see if they can back the smack up this year.

Nzoner 08-25-2010 10:35 PM

Week 3 great line paraphrased,"you're not focking Gonzalez, besides, who gives a shit."

The Bad Guy 08-25-2010 11:16 PM

I really have my doubts about this Jets team.

Accuracy is going to kill their offense this year without question. Yeah, he has some weapons, but the reads he's making in the preseason are awful.

They wont make the playoffs.

Pats win that division and Bengals and Texans get the wildcards.

They've run their mouths too much, and I'm thinking they're going to pay for it big time.

DaneMcCloud 08-26-2010 01:23 AM

What harshes my mellow is that the Jets uncermoniously dumped 10 time Pro Bowler Alan Fanceca for 61st overall guard Vlad Ducasse and he's performing and starting.

Meanwhile, Asamoah, who was taken just seven picks later, is languishing on the bench.

The Jets are becoming the Ravens: Excellent defense, running game, receivers and offensive line.

Yet, there is little to no offensive production.

If Sanchez doesn't have a decent year, B-Schott is a goner.

They definitely make an entertaining bunch to follow. I think Rex Ryan is too good at calling a defense to let this team slip too much... but they definitely run the risk of turning into a circus that goes flying off the rails. You know the Patriots are quietly sitting there ready to punch these guys in the mouth.

And my only concern with Sanchez is maybe they're letting him get too comfortable... I don't know. Yeah they had a good playoff run but Sanchez still has a lot of areas to improve in. Maybe he needs someone pushing him a bit more. I'd agree if he has a bad year, Schottenheimer will probably be the one that pays.

I'm guessing the Jets run a copy of the season The Ravens had their Super Bowl season of 2000. 12-4, and only five games did they score more than 30 points. And only let the opposition score over 30 once. Defense will keep score low and close enough for the offense to not have to do too much.

Exactly.

You know what really bothers me about Dungy (and I've said this before in the forum) is that when his son tried to commit suicide in October 2006, Dungy didn't quit his coaching gig then and there to take care of his boy.

Instead, he continued to coach and the boy committed suicide less than 2 months later. Yet, the media kept going on and on about what a great guy he was and how difficult it must be, blah, blah, blah.

The guy was a multi-millionaire at the time. Stepping down as head coach to take care of his family was not going to harm his reputation or cause financial duress to his family.

What a ****ing asshole.

I think it's pretty interesting that none of the T-Rich drama was shown.

IMO, that was done in order to make the Jets not look like the incompetent ****tards they were during those proceedings.

Nzoner 09-09-2010 09:49 AM

I thought that was funny as hell when the 3rd FB got cut and he says something like,"you know when I come back with another team I'll be looking to kick ass."

Also, found it really dramatic how Revis coming back to the team was the big ending so much so it made me think the damn thing was played out just for that purpose.

I don't think it was done for HK drama, but I do think that he held out specifically to miss camp.

He ended up signing for just a shade more than he had already been offered twice before.

Hard Knocks is must-see tv for me.
*Getting to see the players trying to make the team, succeeding/failing is a rare glimpse.
*Love Rex Ryan.
*The Special Teams coach for the Jets is fugging great.
*How did the guys who ate McDonalds on the Hoffstra field right before practice/scrimmage not puke their guts out?

Great stuff, what a cast of characters. will be fun to watch. was thinking about Schotsy's kid talking about if they gota ring he would force his Dad to take it, nice kid. All those years ago seeing him ball boy on the sidelines.
And Sanchez telling him, as regards calling the offense, "this is easy, you suck Schotzy." Too funny!

Yeah, I liked the ring thing too. BSchotz says "I'll make my dad take my SB ring" and Rex says "I'll make you get two of them".

Watching the little white guy bust his ass and get a chance to play in the last PS game because he doesn't fumble was cool.

Jets act like "frat boys" when female reporter visits practice
Posted by Mike Florio on September 11, 2010 6:59 PM ET
Though the NFL Films cameras are now gone, potential distractions remain at Jets practice.

A female reporter from TV Azteca was present today. Multiple sources with knowledge of the situation tell us that the Jets responded to her presence by "acting like frat boys."

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post made reference to the situation via Twitter on a couple of occasions. Hubbuch said that defensive backs coach Dennis Thurman was reportedly overthrowing players in drills so that they could "accidentally" run into her. Hubbuch also says that at one point linebacker Jason Taylor volunteered to take reps in the drill.

Hubbuch described the scene as "hilarious," but that sentiment wasn't universal. We're told that the reporter went into the locker room after practice, and that some of the players behaved like construction workers and/or prison inmates.

One source said that defensive tackle Kris Jenkins was the loudest of the bunch, at one point exclaiming "this is our locker room," as if to justify the conduct.

Some believe that the reporter appeared to be embarrassed, to the point of being close to tears. Other reporters found the behavior of the players to be juvenile.
Good team Rex Ryan has there.

Chiefnj2 09-14-2010 11:06 AM

Jason Whitlock on Hard Knocks and USC QB'S:

7. How did cussing at football practice become controversial?

I like and respect Tony Dungy a great deal, but he needs to learn he doesn't have to comment on every topic. Dungy ignited the "Hard Knocks"/Rex Ryan cussing controversy by answering Dan Patrick's question. Now commissioner Roger Goodell has come down on Rex and the Jets.

Just say no (comment), Tony.

Dungy acknowledged he hadn't watched "Hard Knocks." Dungy doesn't strike me as an HBO kind of guy. Had Dungy actually watched "Hard Knocks," he'd be outraged by Antonio Cromartie's inability to name his children.

P.S. The Jets are going to stink this year. Mark Sanchez is another overhyped USC quarterback.

6. Speaking of overhyped USC quarterbacks, here's my theory on Sanchez, Matt Leinart and Carson Palmer.

They don't face enough adversity in college to build the necessary toughness to thrive for a sustained period in the NFL. Pete Carroll's teams were stacked with so much depth and talent that Saturdays were easy. The Trojans had an advantage at nearly every position. Sanchez, Leinart and Palmer threw from "clean" pockets. They're no good when they have to move their feet in the pocket or leave the pocket.

OK, I realize Palmer looked pretty good before having his knee destroyed.

But the best playoff quarterbacks in the last decade -- Brady, Big Ben and Kurt Warner -- all are/were terrific under duress. Brady had to scrap to play at Michigan. Big Ben and Warner played with mid-major talent in college.

A quarterback can get spoiled in college and never recover.

-King- 09-14-2010 11:12 AM

Whitlock may be hated...but the guy knows what he's talking about.

Buck 01-23-2011 09:07 PM

I hate the ****ing Jets. I hate Rex Ryan.

That being said they make for entertaining TV. I would not be surprised if the Jets were ok with it if HBO asked them back.
