If I remember right? Dick Vermeil wanted a Defensive guy, we had plenty of offense. Carl drafted LJ for insurance on Priest Holmes signing a new contract from holding out. Dick V. did not want LJ, & we had Derrick Blaylock as back up. The one thing we needed most was a defensive guy prefurably LB. 26 other teams past on LJ for some reason. LJ however was the BPA but wasn't the guy of need we really needed.

The "chip" for LJ was he was passed over by 26 other teams. All he wanted to do was prove those other 26 teams wrong.
