What a great deal for both JC and the Chiefs. It is nice to see players actually wanting to play in KC and deals getting done w/o all the drama we saw through the Carl years.

He needs more carries. He has a 6 yard per carry average. If Charles had carried the ball 500 times he would have gained 3,000 yards!!!!!!!!!

Not really, look at how Chris Johnson and his agent handled his situation in Tennessee and what came of it as opposed to how Charles got dealt with.

He hasnt posted for about a month...meanwhile, we have won three straight games...he'll be back if we lose to San Diego...mark it down.

...

Also, this isnt a surprise to a few that have contact with a guy from another board...he said a few days before DJs deal got done that Clark Hunt was working directly with Pioli to start pushing to get "the young core" of this team locked up BEFORE a new CBA is done. I mentioned this with a couple other members here a few weeks ago in rep comments.

I think this is a sign that Clark feels that a new CBA WILL get done, or that there will indeed be football played next year.

Im pretty damn sure that Hali and Flowers will get done in the coming months, possibly during the week leading up to the playoffs, but that Bowes deal may take more time due to a lot of the Chiefs wanting to protect their investment to ensure he doesn't revert to being a immature player/person and somewhat of a distraction.

this is just a clueless comment.

Dude will continue to get better on the same line as teams get to learn his tendancies.

He went from a track star at Texas/RB at Texas that didnt lift and was perceived as a easy tackle because lifting weights negatively effects a sprinters speed and flexibility, to playing under one of the best running backs coaches in the game (Carthon) and in a great strength program with a mentor veteran like Jones to show him how much lifting helps keep your body prepared for the long haul.

I dont think we have even seen Jamaal at his best, I think that by the middle of next year we will start seeing him finish runs similarly to how Priest did (punishing defenders) and that by that time, Haley will have him running routes similarly to how Priest did so that we will be able to line him up out wide more and more to exploit matchups.

Just watch.

We are far from seeing the best that Charles can be and what we have seen is GREAT.

If that was from Mecca, I owned that guy over and over concerning Charles...the best was when we would get into those ****ing ridiculous CJ Spiller debates when I said Charles would be every bit as good, if not better than him.

A few days later, Charles went off on Denver and Mecca still kept on with the Spiller talk.

I actually like the guy, he is one of the more knowledgeable guys on this board IMO, but he sure does say some shit that is dumb as hell.

Its just a shame that he cant take it when he is wrong and feels the need to go hide in the corner instead of just taking his lumps like a man.

I'm glad he kept them but just about every NFL team keeps their stars thats why the NFL > Baseball. But the Hunts really haven't signed that 1 free agent that puts them over the top I'll give you a great example of one this year: Larry Fitzgerald will be a free agent. If this team signs him I'll say it's the best offense in the NFL. This is a move generally the Hunts don't make.

Everytime the Hunts have tried that is back fired on them. Best bet is to draft your own talent and not have to worry about signing that one big free agent.

I guess you are free to put forward your distinction with no difference. But the fact remains that they are signing key players who, if not signed, would've been free agents.

How would Larry Fitzgerald back fire on them? He's not Andre Rison or Chester McClockton. They are at the bottom of the league in spending that shit might fly with the Royals but not with the Chiefs. Fitz + Pass Rusher and a D-tackle = years of winning the West.

Sometimes, key free agents isn't going to be big "name" free agents, like Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, etc.

KC is going to be building through the draft, and other than the disasterous 2009 Draft, 2008 is really blooming, and 2010 has shown some very promising results, although a little concern of the injuries. I'd rather build through the draft with little additions through the FA market.

Who knows what Pioli will build. None of us really thought of this "College Captain" thing was a greatest idea when that occured, but so far, it has proven to be fairly acceptable during that year.

I just don't want Pioli to start making huge bonehead mistakes that King Carl was well known for, for the most part. His part of re-upping Chambers didn't help on that area.

I'd like to build as much as I can through drafts with picks, if I could.

You dont sign free agents when you are rebuilding...by the time your rebuild is over the player is already past his prime and you didn't get your moneys worth.

Larry Fitzgerald doesn't become a free agent till after next year.

IMO by that time, Haley will have Tucker playing at the level he had Breaston playing at for Arizona.

...

Back when we were competing year in and year out in the 90s, the Hunts had no problem spending up to the max to keep this team competitive and they trusted CP to make the right judgement calls, they werent "cheap" they just were maybe loyal to a fault in keeping CP around long after he wasnt effective.

Since the moment Clark took over this team, he started a massive, total, rebuild and anyone with NFL common sense cant expect a team going through a full on rebuild to have a high payroll because a team of rookies doesnt get paid much. During this period, he spent a shit ton of his own cash to update the stadium instead of tearing down all that history we all cherish and starting over and spent a bunch of other money on premium front office and coaching staff as well as shelling out a big contract for a new QB.

Those aren't moves of a man that is "cheap" they are moves of a man that is calculated and wants to win the right way.

We would have to trade for Fitzgerald. I have stated time and again, I would be behind that if it happened, but if they dont chose to go that route I wouldnt be too worried, I trust Haley to do a good job in that specific area.

Bowe has shown the ability to be a solid, if not spectacular, #1 receiver. He WOULD be a truly elite #2 guy though, especially with Fitzgerald.

Yea but is this how Pioli will build? The Patriots were built with draft, free agency, and trades.

Clark has said since before we signed Pioli to be GM that he wants this team to be built similarly to how the Steelers are.

Mostly through the draft.

What was the last free agent Pittsburgh signed again?

Chiefs Rool 12-11-2010 03:40 PM

HELL YA!

He certainly deserves it and he's definitely a keeper!

TheGuardian 12-11-2010 03:41 PM

Mecca is not a chiefs fan. He's a USC fan. I wonder what pro team he's REALLY a fan of.......

No. He's a Chiefs fan through and through and I really believe that.

He's just the most miserable type of fan. And it's all by his own choice. Sure; you could say he's just an incredibly objective fan, but even that is bullshit. Some folks thrive on misery, and this season is weeding them out.

But the Hunts really haven't signed that 1 free agent that puts them over the top I'll give you a great example of one this year: Larry Fitzgerald will be a free agent. If this team signs him I'll say it's the best offense in the NFL. This is a move generally the Hunts don't make.

Last I heard Fitz wont be a FA until after the '11 season. Arizona will likely trade him before then. Probably to NE.

You know what would be a welcome sighting?

Mecca coming along and starting a thread taking heat for his dumb shit over the last couple years and how they have turned out, and acknowledging th progress Cassel has made like the rest of us have.

Ive even seen Hamas (as well as myself) give due praise to Cassel where its been due.

Its a shame that he has chosen to get lost since the last time we lost a game, its very telling IMO of his actual character IRL.

Dude is a big part of this board and it would be cool if he would just be able to accept the fact that he has been wrong alot lately and get over it, get up and contribute again.

thank you god.

We all own up to our shit around here, except for him. If they lose in SD, and he comes around talking his usual shit, I'm gonna tell him to **** off. :)

He wouldn't be signing him, he'd be trading for him and I don't see much risk with a guy like Larry Fitz.

I agree, not much risk in all for trading for Fitzgerald.

IF you give up the necessary picks and contract for Fitz, how can you afford to pay Bowe market value as well?

I think it's got to be one or the other.

No cap?

DeezNutz 12-11-2010 04:28 PM

Wow. Missed this earlier.

Not a huge fan of signing RBs to lucrative deals, but this specific contract seems to be reasonable, and it's worth taking a shot on a guy like Charles, who appears to be special.

Prop things to that Pioli guy.

Oh, and I hope we're already working on the Flowers extension. He's priority A. Then Bowe (depending upon the Fitz possibility), and then Hali.
