I find it laughable that this guy thinks this game is the stick he will mesure the progress. Let's see last year KC was 4 and 12 and miles from the playoffs. This year 10 and 6 AFC west champions and if the lose to a 12 and 4 team they have made no progress. Too funny~

Some of the fan base.
If they indeed lose Sunday of course I'll be disappointed but in no way will I consider the season a failure. How could one consider worst to first a failure?

Mike Smith went 9-7 and missed the playoffs his second season, and Dimitroff's second season as GM.

Sean Payton went 7-9 his second season and missed the playoffs, and that was Mickey Loomis' 7th season as a GM.

The Rams didn't make the playoffs in their second season of having a GM and head coach.

The point is to progress. And the idea that one game against a 12-4 team is the measuring stick for a team that isn't supposed to compete and is only 2 years into an organization that had a huge rebuild ahead of them is beyond stupid.

BossChief 01-07-2011 08:14 PM

At one point GoChiefs was a HUGE homer....now dude is trying to play the pessimist role to the fullest...one day, we might get to see some middle ground and see an actual objective persona that writes articles that are actually readable.

You can do better than this stuff, man.

Nah, he (most notably) flipped on Herm 3 or 4 times... it's all part of the act.

He's one of the biggest homers here. He'll have a 3-hour boner on Sunday. He just realizes that being positive about the Chiefs on a Chiefs forum doesn't stand out. This is his only option.

Revisionist history.

I supported Herm and then turned when his failure was obvious.

Then I was acccused of flip flopping, which of course is complete BS.

Rausch 01-07-2011 08:35 PM

****ing stupid.

So if we win 6 more games next year than we did this year and lose in the playoffs we're frauds?

****, we're a team 2 years into a rebuild and not only managed to make the playoffs but won the division.

I could be wrong, but I swear the Hermine stuff was after you had already flipped once from supporter to non supporter... then you went back to full on Hermine supporter... so, iirc, there was at least 2 flips (I originally meant 2-3 flips... = 3-4 times you were on one side of the other).

I agree with this list, except for a need for ILB. I think we are fine at that spot and that our players will absolutely shine in their roles there once we add a true NT to the mix that keeps blockers off of our guys.

I think boh of our guys have the potential to be truly special players that are very good defenders.

Nobody is saying or even insinuating that. The general consensus is that this will be a learning experience no matter how it plays out.

If we get blown out, we will know what a very good veteran team saw as our true weaknesses and how we have opportunities in the offseason to fill the holes to make it hard to have that happen again.

If we win it in a close game, it will show that we are closer than some think we are to being a true contender and to what strengths we need to try to further strengthen and which weaknesses we need to focus on to make us more well rounded and therefore more consistent.

No matter how this plays out is irrelevant to deciding if the amount of progress that has been shown through the works of Pioli has been enough or not.

CrazyHorse 01-07-2011 10:06 PM

God this article is awful.

1st, the author acts as though he speaks for the "fans" then goes on to say what no fan is claiming.

Quote:

Specifically we should expect KC's top-ranked rushing attack to test Baltimore's fifth-ranked run defense. We should expect Cassel and Bowe to play at a high level against a secondary that features zero elite cornerbacks and a busted-up Ed Reed. We should expect Romeo Crennel, Tamba Hali and Kansas City's talented secondary to throttle a Baltimore passing game that makes Cassel to Bowe look like Montana to Rice.
Does anyone really "expect" all of these things? Who made these claims? Not me. The reality here is that the author is just setting the table so if the Chiefs dont win the game, he can strut about like he's been right all season based off one game. Anyone with the slightest knowledge in football can see the Chiefs improved. Maybe they aren't ready for prime time. Tht could be debated. But to say if they dont make a playoff team look inept in the playoffs means they arent any better than last season? What s dipshit.

The Chiefs have made the playoffs. I for one am looking forward to the game. I chose to be happy about it. I didn't expect it. To me, it's icing on the cake. A bonus on a successful rebuilding job in progress. One where it would have been unreasonable to expect a playoff game at home this early in the rebuild.

What Im not going to do, is sit around and think of ways I can argue points Ive been wrong about all season on a football forum. This article was generated for the fans of Chiefsplanet. The fans that have made an ass of this author all fricken season. Trying to give himself another chance to be right. Jesus, that might be the sadest thing I have ever witnessed in sports.

While fans try to enjoy a little success, this mental midget can only focus on himself and a message board that defines him.

Just enjoy whats left of the rest of the season for christ sake.

Are you really that damn ridiculous?

So says the man with common sense :) I suspect we will be fighting your team for the Division title for years to come,

Hammock Parties 01-09-2011 09:37 PM

FAIL.

We were a bunch of ****ing frauds this year. We got dominated today almost as bad as that game in 2009. Probably worse if you consider Croyle vs. Cassel.

I was shocked beyond belief at the carnage today. The Chiefs FAILED to a degree I couldn't possibly foretell. I thought we'd lose but that was downright brutal.

Scott Pioli needs to have the best offseason in football or we will suck ass next year.

What an abortion. The 2010 Chiefs were undeniably frauds and the last two weeks proved it. Goddammit, I have never hated being right as much as I do now. This sucks ass.

Dude...

We played a game in which we weren't expected to go to, then we were expected to lose easily. What was suppose to happen....happened.

It's ok. We'll be fine. No need for anyone to do anything drastic. Don't jump off a bridge or anything.

Why not?

I'd only miss his videos, but I'd get over it.

DeezNutz 01-09-2011 09:53 PM

GoChiefs is correct, however, in claiming that Pioli needs to have one hell of an off-season to address some of our glaring weaknesses, as the schedule will be unforgiving. But this borders on not even being an arguable statement.

Of course a GM needs to make savvy moves or the team/organization will suck.

Redcoats58 01-09-2011 09:57 PM

You can't be a fraud if your head coach has said from day one that this team is not good yet. I guess you knew the team better than the head coach...

Yup. We knew going into 2010 even before the offseason that it would take 2 solid, possibly great offseasons at least to be legit contenders. GoChiefs is trying to act like it could have and should have been solved in one.

For a preseason 8-8 team, we did very well.

Huh? Were you here at all for the past week? The majority of the board was NOT expecting us to "lose easily". As I recall, anyone who predicted a loss was a pussy fan.

We didn't play like a division winner or a 10-6 team.

That is the very definition of "fraud".

The Chiefs are only a fraud to people who actually thought they had any chance of making any significant playoff run. Those people are delusional anyway. Most rational fans didn't think so.

And GoChiefs is using the "fraud" term to mean that our improvements from 2009 to 2010 are fraudulent. That's where the backlash is coming from. This team is absolutely better than 2009. As any rational fan would have told you before the game, they have a way to go, and it showed.

This 'fraud' talk is absurd.

You bitch that your schedule is soft? Well, no disrespect, but let's be honest here ... how many of those games do you think your past teams would have won? 4, 5 maybe 6?

Seattle is a fraud team if I ever saw one. Unlike Seattle, KC is a team with a lot of great pieces in place, talent all over the field. Did they overachieve? Hell yeah ... but isn't that everyone's goal heading into the season?

I really think your team is just a few pieces short of having a team where this fraud talk will be long buried.

Seattle is a fraud team?

Seattle proved they actually belong in the playoffs.

The Chiefs, without question, did not. We didn't even belong on the same field as the Baltimore Ravens.

I'm shocked beyond belief. In my wildest fantasies, I did not anticipate a 23-point loss at home.

Pioli needs to nail the draft and make one or two blockbuster trades this offseason or 2011 will be a giant pile of fail. That's probably not going to happen, though, so the good news is the 2011 Chiefs won't be frauds. They won't fool anyone into thinking they're a legit playoff team.
