Condon thinks players will approve labor deal
Posted by Mike Florio on July 20, 2011, 4:36 PM EDT Rarely if ever does an NFL agent give us any good news. Today, NFL agent Tom Condon did. In an interview with Rich Eisen of NFL Network, Condon said that he thinks the players will approve the proposed labor deal. “I guess if I was a betting man I would think that they’ll approve,” Condon said. It’s significant because Condon isn’t some slappy who represents a backup guard, a kickoff specialist, and an aging defensive lineman. Condon, through CAA, represents some of the biggest names in the league, and Condon has a way of always finding himself in the thick of things. As to the timing, Condon thinks approval will occur today or Thursday morning. |
Sounds like a last minute power ploy. **** the players.

Just sign the damn deal.

Can confirm @SI_JimTrotter report that settlement has been voted through by player reps, passed on to plaintiffs. But only conditionally . Looks like its in brady and the others named in the lawsuit now. |
So was there a ****ing vote or not?

UPDATE: Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com broke it down beautifully on Twitter:
“This is the deal: vote on CBA–no. Vote to settle lawsuit–sorta yes. CBA by end of week–hell yes. So calm your asses down, people.” |

The hangup: players still asking for cash http://mike-freeman.blogs.cbssports....64363/30753065
Logan Mankins and Vincent Jackson are still asking for cash compensation and that is one of the holdups over the finalizing of the CBA agreement, a source with knowledge of the situation told me. Mankins and Jackson are still asking for $10 million each and this is slowing the process, the source explained. Jackson has denied he is seeking compensation. The lawsuit against the NFL cannot be settled until all the plaintiffs agree and as of late Wednesday night, the source said, Mankins and Jackson were still seeking payment. The NFL, thus far, refuses to agree. My guess: tomorrow, after more criticism, the two men will drop their requests and the CBA will be agreed to by the players and owners. If Mankins and Jackson continue this course of action they may need to move to an isolated island in the Pacific. |
