ShowtimeSBMVP 12-03-2011 07:38 PM

Raiders coach Hue Jackson met with Rolando McClain on Saturday, two days after the second-year middle linebacker was arrested on a variety of charges in Alabama relating to the alleged pointing of a gun in another person’s face.

Paul Gutierrez of CSNBayArea.com reports that Jackson and McClain met on Saturday. Jackson said that no decision has been made regarding McClain’s status for Sunday against the Dolphins.

“We’ll see,” Jackson told Gutierrez at the team’s South Florida hotel. “I feel very comfortable that we’re getting down to the issues with him. This is something he has to learn from, we all have to learn from.

“I will make the best decision for the organization and the football team.”

Jackson added that McClain is “remorseful, and he should be.”

But will Jackson teach McClain a lesson by sitting him? If McClain were a backup, he’d be benched or worse. Jackson, however, needs McClain, and Jackson likely will find a way to let McClain help the Raiders beat the Dolphins.

It’s a double standard that applies at every level of every sport. The stars get special treatment, and the slappies get slapped around. The Raiders have an opportunity to break the pattern and take action against McClain.

Within the next 17 hours or so, we’ll find out what they choose to do.

He'll get a 4-game suspension, minimum, plus fines. He should serve some as well.

DTLB58 12-03-2011 07:43 PM

Well, Aaron Curry did say after being signed, the Raiders do have sort of a bad boy reputation and I'm okay with that.

His homeboy is just trying to live up to the hype. :D

R8RFAN 12-03-2011 07:50 PM

I say play him and piss on the media and the haters...

Don't bow to the pressure Hue.... Sitting him won't teach him a lesson, he still gets paid

If he indeed did do what what was claimed he is messed up and should be heavily penalized and do time. The problem now is we have no idea if it is true. The fact that there is a victim isn't good though.

R8RFAN 12-03-2011 08:13 PM

Maybe a 1 game suspension... He can sit during the KC game, not likely we are gonna need him in that game anyway.

CSN Paul Gutierrez: @Raiders MLB #RolandoMcClain joined his #Raiders teammates for today's walkthru practice at stadium

The NFL is content with waiting for the state misdemeanor legal process to run its course before they get involved. Its not like the guy was convicted of having a trunk full of drugs like the Chief's Bam. Dude might not even end up being charged with the misdemeanor. Let's not jump ahead of due process here....

They are just wanting to bark because they suck balls UD..... McClain is a fine upstanding player and pillar of that community in Alabama.

Ugly Duck 12-03-2011 09:55 PM

The victim's deposition:

Tapscott told police he was close friends with McClain, Willingham and a few others who were at the residence during the alleged altercation. “We call each other brothers,” Tapscott said in the deposition. “We were all with Rolando when he got drafted into the NFL.” Tapscott stated he is known as “Tard” among the group, while McClain is called “Boo” and Willingham is nicknamed “Tweezy.”

Tapscott (Tard) said McClain and some others went outside. A few minutes later, McClain opened the door and allegedly told him that Willingham, who had just arrived, wanted to fight him. When Tapscott refused to come outside, Willingham and the other friends walked inside. Tapscott said Willingham slapped him several times before he put his head down to avoid the attacks. The friend who invited Tapscott over asked him to leave, and Willingham allegedly said the fight would continue outside.

“Rolando stood there laughing and recording it on his phone,” Tapscott told police.

Tapscott said Willingham attacked him when they got outside, so he went to his car to get a box cutter. He alleged that McClain told him to “put that gun down.” When Tapscott replied that he had a knife, he said McClain pulled a gun and pointed it him. When Tapscott did not pull the box cutter out of his pocket, McClain allegedly fired a shot by his left ear. Tapscott said he ducked and when he looked at McClain again, the gun was still pointed at him.

“Rolando said, ‘Take it out of your pocket,’ ” Tapscott said. “I took out the box cutter and he started laughing.”

McClain is represented by the Burney and Burney law firm of Decatur. The firm did not return a telephone call seeking comment Friday, but issued a statement: “Mr. McClain asserts his innocence. We are confident that Mr. McClain will be cleared of all charges.” McClain denies being involved in a fight, as well as firing a gun.

If the story is true he will be charged with a felony I would guess. I also read somewhere the charges he is facing could lead to some county time~

I ran into another poster who went by Hawaiin Raider on a Raider site and we got along, and I wondered if it was him. As far as hawaiinboy he posted I was a pussy because I was too nice to Chiefs fans here saying I was a Chiefs ass kisser or something like that. It pissed me off and I called him out and talked some pretty harsh shit to him. I remember Logical and some others warning me that he was going unload on me LMAO I replied **** him and expected him to talk some smack. He never responded and I have wondered whatever happened to him~

Yeah, the guy just packed up his toys and went home one day, never to return. I always enjoyed exchanging smack with him, back in the day. One thing about him, he knew his football.

I was tempted to ask the guy I was talking about if it was him. I never did we talked football quite a bit and I use the same username everywhere. I figured if it was him he must not have a issue with me so I never bothered~

MIAMI (AP)—Linebacker Rolando McClain(notes) is active for the Oakland Raiders in Sunday’s game at Miami, three days after he was arrested on misdemeanor assault, firearms and other charges in his Alabama hometown.

Police said McClain fired a gun during a fight. He was in Alabama to attend his grandfather’s funeral and didn’t practice this week.

Dolphins guard Vernon Carey(notes) is inactive because of a left ankle injury, and John Jerry(notes) is scheduled to start for him.
