I will take a playoff win instead.

Take the jersey and shove it up your ****ing ass, Clark.

okcchief 04-15-2012 08:12 AM

No one should be bitching about this. However, I still wouldn't buy season tickets with #7 on the field.

Not a bad deal, but not enough to get me to get ST again.

Holy shit! Great plan by the team. Anyone on the fence about tickets, probably jumps on it now.

CaliforniaChief 04-15-2012 08:36 AM

That's a really cool thing to do. I was talking to a Chargers' season ticket holder yesterday about football, etc...and told him about the jersey thing, and he about fell down...kinda like Buck's response.

so say 15k do....

Consumer price per jersey is roughly $100.... so that would be around $15k.

I'm sure the chiefs have a nice discount of cost for ordering 15k jerseys....
This whole thing prolly cost Clark about 10-13k dollars.
He could wipe his ass with that money.

This needs done on a yearly basis, not every 50.

you forgot your zeros. It's actually 1.5 million. However, the game day jerseys are significantly more, and they'll probably end up doing double that 15k or more. Let's say you are one of the people that have 2 season tickets for 500 dollars and are willing to pay 250 for an authentic jersey. This is in essence a buy one get one free, sorry about the shitty QB offer. Incredible. Very generous and will cost the team millions.

Oh, and it ensures Matt Casshole goes down in history. Only QB ever that was so bad the team had to give away free jerseys to get STH. I don't know if we're getting them or not. The wife was a football widow for years, and became a fan a couple years ago. She wants them.

So, 69 Flopnuts? Or 7 Casshole? I did coin the name after all...

gblowfish 04-15-2012 08:46 AM

I'm thinking about #89 Taylor.

Sounds like a really nice giveaway to me.

86 Buchanan is the only way to go. 63 Lanier is another good idea, as is 78 Bell.

Chiefs Nike jerseys available for preorder

Check out the selection here

I actually think I liked the Reebok jerseys better. Something about these I just don't like as well. Is it the new material, or the fact that the white/yellow band stops shy of the end on the sleeves and leaving a red band at the end? Is it that it reminds me of how the Buckeye's sleeve bands are?

beach tribe 04-15-2012 09:41 AM

It's really crazy that I bought a DT "players of the century" Jersey off of e-bay with the exact same raised stripe on the sleeves about 6 years ago. (for $25. stitched letters, very well made)

No doubt it is.

They are saying they are the 250 genuine authentics. That's a great deal if you were already shelling out the money for tickets.

I agree with you, the Chiefs finally do something really great PR related and it's getting ripped apart like they were offering a dollar off of a BK happy meal.

It isn't a three piece suit... you are correct.

It sure is better than being made to kneel while Clark pisses in your mouth and Pioli rifles through your wallet. It is a free jersey and the Chiefs are the only ones giving it away.

That is pretty damn cool.

If I was a long-time season ticket holder, after years of paying full price for preseason games, $20+ for parking, and really getting no benefits for being a STH, my first reaction would probably be "it's about damn time".... saying no other team is doing it doesn't really change anything, since most teams should be doing something like this every year.

Old Dog 04-15-2012 11:24 AM

It figures that just when I decided not to renew that they come out with a nice deal. Oh well, I'm certainly at peace with my decision to not renew.

It's sad. We should have a really great defense and running game this season. If only Cassel could elevate his game to play at Trent Green level, but I know that's unlikely as hell.

I don't have a contract with my internet/cable provider, so that's not the same for me, but I do get a guaranteed price for 2 years and can quit any time... I have a contract with my cell phone provider, and what I get out of it is a deep discount on phones.

But, it's still not the same at all... I'm satisfied with those providers 99% of the time. They provide a service 24/7/365. I could pay for 6 months of cable+internet for the cost of going to 4 or 5 Chiefs games. If I don't like my cable or internet or cell provider, I can choose another one.

It's a nice perk, not arguing that... and based on the responses I've seen here and on their FB page, it's working out for them. lcarus 04-15-2012 11:58 AM

So I take it the 100 dollar jerseys are replicas and the 250 jerseys are authentic? I don't know if I'll ever get one of these, replica or not. They're just way too expensive.

Strongside 04-15-2012 12:01 PM

These jerseys will be nicer than the Reebok replicas. The front and back where the numbers are printed are solid material, not jersey cloth...the numbers always looked like shit screen printed onto those reebok replicas. These should look pretty decent though.

It's not that they didn't pursue him. They never had a chance.

One of the best QBs of all time dismissed playing for this team out of hand, when the roster is fairly talented and went to play for a worse team within our division.

Clark Hunt has to figure out why a Hall of Famer would not even consider his team. Coaching? Organizational culture?

Instead they ask us to buy tickets to see the same thing as last year when the division is better. No thanks.

I've read all that but nowhere do they really say which jersey it is. I know the "reduced price" jersey is going to be $120. NFLshop.com has the replica jersey listed at $149 while kcchiefs.com shop has the same jersey listed at $119 right now. Neither of those are stitched numbers.

there are several second stringers like Shaun Hill around the league that could read a defense and throw passes beyond 5 yards that could be an upgrade.

That's an NFL rule, and if they reduced the preseason, they would just spread the cost out over the regular season. Wouldn't save you anything on season tickets.

ChiefsCountry 04-15-2012 08:36 PM

As a season ticket holder I don't expect to get anything when I purchase my tickets. Going to the games is what I buy them for not to get anything free. Getting a jersey is pretty cool guesture. I thought getting one of the bricks outside Arrowhead was a need gift that we got for being season ticket holder as well.

sizing charts are all over the place on these jerseys. Nike has one thing while the Chiefs have another. Some of the other teams are different from both sites as well. Weird considering you would think Nike would put out official numbers for the jersey sizes and not just catch alls.

The Chiefs original posting on this indicated it was a 250 dollar jersey.

Still not an awful deal but there's no way people are going to shell out for 2 tickets just to get a jersey.
