Yeah. Ridden the old 695 the newer 696 and 1100. They are really roomy. Not uncomfortable at all. Eps the new models. Been a while since I rode the 695s but I don't recall it being cramped. Plus that twin torque :D

NADA Value on my bike is $3900 average with a low of $2900. Now take into account that you can hardly find a F4i cheaper than what I'm asking and tell me I'm asking too much.

Tons of after market goodies may not be worth anything on the book but to the buyer it should mean something. For some reason everyone seems to pay a big premium out here for the r-1s.

I was looking at the xb12ss when Buell was still around and then HD terminated their company. That was that.

I kept my akrapovic and put on the stock exhaust when I sold the RR. Sold the can on Craigslist. People sometimes think a 500 can will add 1k to the bike etc. more times than not the after market doesn't add much value at all. Unless youre talking about a bike that has a full titanium system etc.

But windscreens, pegs, sliders. Meh

i owned a speed triple - I am 6'3". comfortable, compares favorably in performance to a monster, affordable insurance.

I love the xb9 fibe bolts. I'm hopeful Eric Buell can hook up with another power plant company or an enire company. Good thing is if you were to buy a Buell there would be no shortage of tech/mechanical support via Harley dealerships

Yup. Monsters, speed triples, aprilia shiver etc. all super comfortable and a blast to ride.

Me too, because his $40k new crotch rocket just aint gonna cut it.

Dayze 07-19-2012 08:11 PM

No doubt. I think Harley really boned him over. Buells had a huge following.

If you end up considering a Ducati as you narrow down your list I would stick to the 2v motors. 695, 696, 796, 1100, S2R (both 800 and 1000cc)

Otherwise you get into the 4v desmos and when maintence rolls around for valve clearance checks/adjustments, it'll be less work if you do it yourself, and
A lot less $$ if you have it done. The 2v motors will make plenty of power for street riding plenty. The 4v is what they put in the hyper sports - 998,999, 748, 749, S4R etc. very powerful but more work and $.

Funny, I was talking to a guy who was in upper management for HD and he said they lost money every year with the whole Buell delio.

The amount of power on tap on that thing was crazy. You can smash the throttle on an entrance ramp and feel like you're on a supersport but they have power all over the powerband. I don't know how you beat them for real world power and overall value.

Yeah, they probably did. It was a little weird to sell both classes at a dealer like Harley. I can't remember the arrangement with Buell and HD, but I think Eric had some restrictions in what he could do etc. something like that...can't remember

Yep. Gimme tons of low end torque and a nice smooth power curve and I'll take it everyday of the week. :D

You ever rode a Tuono? I rode the Shiver at Renos, and I came back. The owner was like "what did you think. Hey, you should ride the Tuono". His daughter pulled it around ....I could hear that baby start up. Had Akro cans...sounded amazing.

That thing would be a ticket machine in terms of speeding and how easy it is to lift the front wheel from about anywhere in the power band.

From what I read, he had to use 45 degree twins and they had to be air cooled, to fit with the brand

Not picking on you but Frankly I think most people way over value their bikes, that's why they get all pissed when someone offers them so much less.

I got two bikes in my sights and both are 2006. One is an r-1 raven with lots of after market goodies with 13k miles on it and it looks brand new. The guy really needs to sell it and is in the middle of nowhere so it takes a could hours to get to him. If I get this it will be somewhere between $5,500 and 6k. YOUr NADA value on that bad boy has to be at least $7,500. The other bike is a 2006 ZX-14 with 10k on it. The add ons on this are:

Power Commander III With Brocks Performance Map Upgrade- $350
Brocks Performance Titanium CT Megaphone Full System- $1895
.

FYI...that thing is going to be super loud :). Like...really loud.

Ah ok. I thought it was another style cone. I rode with a few guys after a bike night and a dude had a zx10 with an exhaust that looked like an ice cream cone upside down. Mother of god was it loud

A lot depends on your age. Driving history as well (obviously) and how they categorize the bike. The insurance company my wife works for won't insure sport bikes above 600cc, and even that won't do so unless they're over 25.

I think full coverage on mine (state farm) was about 15/mo...I was 33 when i had it. Around here they factor in the non riding months,or so I hear.

However, the kid I sold mine to was in on his third bike in two yrs, had crashed the other two and had multiple pricey tickets amd he told me his insurance for full coverage on the bike was 225/mo. Shit you not

15/mo for full coverage on what?

I'm 25, not even a parking ticket on my driving record, riding course discount and the lowest I've been quoted isn't even 15/mo for bare minimum street legal.

My 600rr. Though, had two cars and two life insurance policies so maybe a discount. I havnt had a ticket or accident since 1994, so who know how much consideration they took on that aspect

I had a seca 750 many moons ago. I almost died on that thing more than all my other bikes combined. It was practically silent. Loud works for me.

He was one of these morons who rode with a 'stunt crew' out of Atchison. Apparently he's not very good if he's crashed 2 lol.
Sort of made me sad - I took exceptional care of the bike cosmetically and mechanically; was a great bike; my baby. Knowing this fool would probably crash it irritated me.

BIG_DADDY 07-20-2012 09:26 AM

Another thing that cracks me up are the guys that put stickers all over their bike. What are you like friggen 6?

A good friend of mine purchased a brand new crotch rocket 15 years ago, and was showing off to us in front of his house. He was far from experienced, and when he tapped the front brake it did a slow motion front roll over. He put his hands out, broke both wrists, road rashed the hell out of his face, and completely destroyed the fairings on the bike.

He managed to do this going no more than 10 mph. LMAO

We were all in tears from laughter while trying to help him.

Nobody should ever get on a street bike that hasn't spent some serious time in the dirt. JMO

I would have laughed my ass off too.

Agreed. Just because someone has the money doesn’t mean they should go throwing a leg over a ZX14 or Hayabusa without any riding experience.

Dayze 07-20-2012 10:16 AM

no doubt. amazed that a 18 yr old kid can buy a 600CC+ sportbike, with no experience.

This is a good buy;

I like the 929 but it was only made for 2 years. I'd stay away. Parts are gonna be an issue down the road.

Finally pulled the trigger. As I was saying earlier if you wait long enough you will find what you want at a good price instead of the tard rate most people post with their bike. 2001 ZX-11 with 6,900 miles for $2,800. I really wanted a ZX14 or a VMAX but at this price I couldn't walk away. Bike is in perfect running condition.

Just for the record the guy didn't flinch at a test drive either.
