The best defense for all of Cassel's bullshit is that he hasn't faced that many winning teams the last two seasons. Just four in two years, which is shocking to be honest. I guess you could argue he hasn't had much of an opportunity to prove himself against good teams while playing with a solid supporting cast.

He has constantly ducked good teams the last two seasons by sheer fortune. Likely he would have been eviscerated by Rivers in San Diego in 2010, but our failed assassination attempt took priority.

In 2011 his convenient injury meant he didn't have to face:

New England
Pittsburgh
Green Bay

He also didn't have to face Chicago (Bears defense would have ****ed him up), Oakland with Carson Palmer or Denver on the road.

Likely he would have lost all of those and we would have even stronger evidence that he's a piece of shit.

What's sad is that we almost lost one of those games, against Buffalo, because Cassel was so god damn awful, and basically was not responsible for a single third-down conversion the entire game.

We had 274 yards rushing, 0 turnovers, and held Buffalo to 3.9 yards per play.

And we won by 3 after 10 minutes of overtime, including a missed game winner by the Bills.

Without actually seeing them we have no way of knowing whether they were bad throws or if Baldwin was heavily covered and that was the only way to get the ball where he could catch it. I know everyone hates Cassel, but there is no reason to make assumptions.

It's just weird that you could read all those statistics about Cassel's failures and how he's NEVER been able to throw a good pass, and then say, "well, there IS the possibility that all those acrobatic catches were actually the best available passes he could have thrown on the field."

I mean, it'd be one thing if Cassel showed small incremental improvement in his game over the course of three years. But he hasn't even done that.
