If Stanzi turns this team around and we end up 9-7 (which would mean Stanzi would be 8-4 as the starter) how would that be a bad thing?

This place is crazy in some ways.

Why would people be disappointed with a 25 year old quarterback that we drafted going 8-4?

The last eight games are much weaker that the 1st 8, he would have to tear it up to be the # 1 going in next year.Crap Pioli might think we would be OK with Matty as a back up and not draft a # 1 QB.

Very few Tom Brady's ever make it in the NFL.

I lost a bet against Gadzooks. Have to keep this until the next Chiefs/Chargers game.

The bet was that Baldwin would get 50 yards and a TD in that game. I got half of it.

In hindsight it was a dumb bet, but I had nothing else about this team of which to be prideful. I didn't know and didn't care if we held the Chargers rush offense to under 100 yards, which was the bet we made last year. I had a chance to make Gadzooks a loyal member of the Terrance Copper society, though. So I rolled the dice.

Throwing to BRIAN HARTLINE and DAVONE BESS.

Yep, another top 10 QB reach KC fans didn't like.

Sorter 10-01-2012 11:20 PM

Brock, I'll admit that I didn't like him. He was the reason Cyrus Gray's draft stock fell along with Jeff Fuller. To me, that is a sign of poor QB play. If he continues to play at a high level for a rookie, I'll eat my crow happily. I don't like being right about players playing poor in the NFL; they're people too that have worked their ****ing asses off for their opportunities.

I sense terrible tragedy in the making.

These guys are going to screw things up even worse, market down.

They'll pull Cassel at which point Quinn will bomb. Then, they'll overreact and put Cassel back in but his confidence will have been shattered because he is highly sensitive and he will bomb even worse than before. Then they'll overreact again and put Quinn back in but his confidence will be doubly shattered and he'll bomb even worse than any of the prior bombings that had taken place so far. Meanwhile, Pioli will begin a frantic search of the league for another quarterback and he will find some pitiable castoff and sign him and that quarterback will play better than anybody so far and win a game causing all the other quarterbacks we have left on the team to see their confidence shattered to an even higher degree of shatteredness than they were before at which point there will be shattered quarterback ego pieces everywhere you look and much crying and sobbing in the locker room which will inspire Roleo to give everybody a real big hug but he'll accidentally smother one of the quarterbacks betwixt his massive tittahs and the police will arrest him and Daboll will then become interim head coach and fire himself.

Coach 10-02-2012 01:57 AM

The thing abot Tannehill is that the Miami's OC is Sherman, so that probably helped shorten his learning curve as to learning the offense, since that's practically the same offense he QB'ed in Texas A&M. Basically, all he had to do was to get a feel of the game speed in the NFL.

Just my .02 cents there.

Brady Quinn poised for more Kansas City Chiefs snaps

By Gregg Rosenthal
Around The League editor
Published: Oct. 1, 2012 at 08:07 p.m. Updated: Oct. 1, 2012 at 09:28 p.m.

Teammates of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel reportedly are losing confidence in him following another rocky outing in Sunday's loss to the San Diego Chargers. The coaching staff might not be far behind.

Coach Romeo Crennel admitted Monday that Brady Quinn could pick up some first-team snaps in practice this week. Crennel broached the idea of benching Cassel at some point, even if only for a drive.

"You pull him out, put somebody else in, let him settle down and maybe he goes back in," Crennel said. "As a coach, you get a feeling about whether he's making good decisions, poor decisions ... those kind of things all kind of play into it."

Cassel has 10 turnovers on the season, so he has made a lot of poor decisions. Cassel is not the type of playmaker, like Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who can make up for many mistakes.

"At some point, as a coach, you go through and you see what's happening in the game and how a guy is reacting and how he's responding to what's happening in the game," Crennel said. "If you feel he's inept, constantly making poor decisions, bad choices, then that's when you move on from him and give someone else a chance."

The Chiefs' home crowd chanted for No. 3 quarterback Ricky Stanzi on Sunday. Crennel can only hope that's the low point of the season. We aren't likely to see Stanzi anytime soon, but it sounds like we're another bad Cassel performance away to getting the Brady Quinn experience.

Follow Gregg Rosenthal on Twitter @greggrosenthal.

thing is, he really doesn't say quinn might get snaps...he's speaking hypothetically

this is like pioli's famous "I believe in competition for the QB" statement...which was purely hypothetical...

FAX 10-02-2012 06:50 AM

Alternatively, Roleo could be referring to macaroons which are closely related to the snap. They are very like a coconut snap with puffy cheeks. Or, perhaps Brady is reciting hip poetry in the locker room and Roleo digs it.

This is such a nother waisted season imo. We can't even get good development or evaluation for the piss poor QB play. Quinn comes in his best attribute is taking off and run kind of what TT does.

Guys like Jonathan Baldwin are the ones who suffer the most. It's no wonder he hasn't shown much this season. ****ing Cassell sucks and brings the team down with him. It's pathetic that the coaches are just now recognizing this when us fans have been screeming for a while now.

Well, first of all, Quinn is probably WORSE than Cassel. And by benching Cassel for any length of time, you bruise his fragile ego so thoroughly he won't recover, at least not this season.

By starting Quinn, you're all but guaranteeing we pick top 5.

again, where did I say those things would happen? I CLEARLY (I thought it was clear anyway) that we were discussing hypotheticals that would still end with us taking a first round qb.

Some of you need to pay better attention.

Even though I like Stanzi, I was also the most vocal member in favor of trading up for Tannehill...even though almost nobody else wanted to...I was also on the bandwagon of guys that wanted to trade the farm for rg3...and will be part of the group willing to trade anything to get Geno.

It's like I can't like one player but at the same time fully acknowledge that there are also better options without people being able to understand that.

1-he's inept
2-he's constantly making poor decisions
3-he's making bad choices

"Coach Romeo Crennel admitted Monday that Brady Quinn could pick up some first-team snaps in practice this week. "

Weren't there reports last week that Quinn was taking first team snaps?

It said he was taking snaps, I still don't remember it saying he was taking snaps WITH THE ONES.

Or Stanzi. I don’t mind the stink as much when the aroma changes from time to time.

Start stanzi. That ****er has been doing nothing & collecting a paycheck for 2 years now.

Throw him off the dock & make him learn to swim.

I like the way you put it. I'm in.

I dont want him to get "some snaps", make the change or dont, laying out a tease rumor like that means less than nothing.

Move on 100% past castle or dont even bother, give Quinn his last shot in the bigs and if he sucks (again) let Stanzi have his first chance, and if they all suck, thats just fine... all the more reason for major change.

Ideally, bringing in Quinn would symbolize the end of the Cassel era, a complete loss of confidence. Therefore we bring in Quinn to try to salvage the season before it is lost for good.

If Quinn fails to deliver, and loses say all 4 games he plays, we don't go back to Cassel. The season is lost, we'd be 1-9 or 2-8 by that point. Putting Cassel in to save face would be the worst thing a team could do, there is literally no point.

You either stick with Quinn and hope it clicks by the end of the year, or you give your young developmental QB a 6 game audition. Stanzi would HAVE to see the field.

This is what I'm hoping for. The way I see it playing out is, Cassel is gone. Period. After that, Quinn probably fails. Then, Stanzi gets to sink or swim. At the very least, he gains valuable experience which would make him a viable backup option to a rookie 1st round QB. At best, he might get to compete with a rookie first round QB.
