Girardi said in the post game that A-Rod's not playing SS.

chefsos 10-13-2012 11:36 PM

You just know we're gonna be treated to lots of footage of The Captain exhibiting leadership on crutches from the dugout.

Anywhere. They need his bat to heat up now more than ever.

Poor Yankees. I feel so bad for their longsuffering fans.

Thank God I have the Cards to root for. Freese puts us up 2-0!

I'm still completely baffled by Matheny's bullpen management.

I mean it ended up working but he kind of left Lynn hanging for what seemed like an eternity when he clearly was gassed.

Wow, CC got lit up.

Well, I'm sure that fearsome Yankees offense will come roaring back ...

Goodbye Yankees. Always a joy to see you guys get bounced. CC Chubathia got rocked.

How the hell did these clowns beat the Orioles?

ChiefsCountry 10-18-2012 04:40 PM

Damn I was hoping the Yankees would win one just to keep saying the Royals were the last team to sweep their asses out of the playoffs.

The single greatest moment in the history of my Royals fandom.

Orioles Bat's sucked and Jim Johnson went to shit in the playoffs 1 pitch away from winning.

teedubya 10-18-2012 04:52 PM

I'd love to see SF pull this out. I like them and have been to a few games out there. I wear an SF Giants hat a lot... plus, if they make it to the World Series, I'll be able to go to one of the games as I'll be out there next week. Detroit vs SF would be fun.

Didn't Jeter get hurt Game 1 of this series? He's the heart and soul of that team.

IMO, they should have had ARod move to SS... and see if that kick started him, somehow.

SPchief 10-18-2012 05:36 PM

What the hell song are they playing over the speakers up there?

siberian khatru 10-18-2012 05:36 PM

THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES LOSE!

Al Bundy 10-18-2012 05:36 PM

I'm jealous of the Tigers.

chefsos 10-18-2012 06:56 PM

Detroit had the worst record of all the AL playoff teams. A couple of non-playoff teams had a better record. And yet here they are, going to the World Series.

Just goes to show...something. I don't know what.

Actually I do: Doesn't much matter how many you win as long as you get into the dance. Congrats to the AL champion Tigers.

Heh, I didn't realize that until now. So basically MLB has turned into the NFL now. Teams with worse records get into the playoffs over better teams simply because they play in a weak division.

It's getting to the point in pro sports where the regular seasons don't matter much.

The Tigers were arguably the 6th or 7th best team in the AL this season (NYY, BAL, TAM, OAK, TEX, LAA), but the playoffs are pretty random (unless you're the Cardinals and just win using Beltran, intangibles and magic).

All that being said, though, I think Detroit is a better ballclub than their record indicates. They underachieved this year and I'm not surprised at all that they're where they are now.

The short series format certainly favors teams with dominant pitching like the Tigers have.
