Pioli is furiously leaking information like this just to screw with us one last time. "Hey Peter King, when I was bound and gagged in that airport I heard Andy Reid speaking glowingly of the left tackle from A&M. The deal is done."

I think there is a plot by the NY Jets luvin media to spead lies that Geno is not worth an early first round pick so that there is hope that he might be there when they pick.

Nobody trades up to #1 for a LT, lol.
IF anyone trades into #1 this year, it will be for Geno Smith or Tyler Wilson.

I think Andy Reid has Geno locked in, but would move the pick for the right price.

Before we hired Andy, I was adamant about not trading down...but if the guy adds a couple extra firsts and still comes out of the draft with Barkley, Geno, Wilson or Bray...I'd be ok with it.

I trust Andy Reids evaluation.

If somebody is trading up, it's for a QB.

Trading down is just asking to end up empty-handed. Forget it.

The ONLY situation I would be okay with is moving back to #2 so the Jags could take this guy and we can still be assured Geno.

I trust his evaluation too. He should take whichever QB he believes in. Even if that's Barkley.

But he needs to do it with the first overall pick. Trading down and hoping his guy will still be there is just asking for a ****ing disaster.

I do NOT want to get St. Louis Rams'd and be forced into a zillion trade downs. And they got off pretty easy only dealing in stuff like missed CBs and DTs they wanted. We're talking about our QB here. The stakes are way too goddamn high.

I'm with ya...I'm just saying I wouldn't be pissed if he went that direction.

What if he grades 3 quarterbacks evenly and can add 2 extra firsts moving to 4 or 5?...he would still get one of them.

He watched every chiefs game in one day.

He knows that his decision at quarterback will impact his success in KC far more than every other factor combined.

I'd bet that he has spent time watching film of Smith.

I doubt he's broken down any film on Geno. He might have watched his bowl game but that is probably about it, unless Clark directed that i.e. "Here are some youtube vids of QBs this year. Which one do you like? If you say Mike Glennon, I'll ****ing stab you".

I doubt Reid has really seen all that much of any QB prospect in this draft to know who he has locked in at this current time.

Hootie 01-09-2013 12:19 AM

2010 betting lines for 2010 Chiefs opened up at 1:1 to take an OL and 9:4 for any position not OL or QB (which is what I took because I figured they'd take Berry)

the night before the draft it was at -120 for Okung...when Berry finally leaked the next day that -120 was quickly +300 and vice versa for Berry.

No one knows shit about who's going #1 especially now. These threads are silly.

Listening to Fescoe on my way in and it's a foregone conclusion to them that KC won't/shouldn't draft a QB until the 2-3 rounds and Oline is the way to go at 1. Fescoe even passively homered Cassel talking about him getting a long look from Reid to compete with the 2 round QB we draft.

Yep. I've heard here or on the radio "I trust Andy to find the right guy."

F That. You know what that sounds like? "In Scott I trust".

Do I trust Andy to get the most out of whatever QB we have? Sure. He's proven he can do that. But more importantly I want to give him the most talented QB available so Andy can maximize that penitential into a SB... Not maximize some 2nd or 3rd rounder into say the 15th best QB in the league.

I'll be kicking puppies if a LT is taken #1.

ChiTown 01-09-2013 08:21 AM

WHAT is the worst thing that can happen if we draft Geno with our #1 pick? That our QB sucks and we finish with 2 wins? Shit we've already done that, so what's the big deal? It's time this FRANCHISE takes a chance, builds around their own drafted QB, and at least TRY to do what most successful teams do. This re-tread BS has not worked worth a shit for the Chiefs. Time to do it ourselves, and with the #1 overall pick.

Wilson is a legit top 10 prospect. And Barkley is just behind that. If we could come out of the draft with one of them, I don't care who else we pick.

But that's why I said "if by some miracle" because I think our ONLY chance of getting one of those 2 guys is to TAKE THEM AT 1-1.
