Pioli is a True Fan, what would you expect?

ShowtimeSBMVP 02-21-2013 01:17 PM

Evan Silva ‏@evansilva

Ex- #Chiefs GM & current NFL Net analyst Scott Pioli says he graded Luke Joeckel and Chance Warmack as the best 2 players in the 2013 draft.

DTLB58 02-21-2013 01:18 PM

What I hate about former GM's/coaches, they come on TV and say what teams should do now and that's exactly what they should've done when they were in charge but didn't have the balls to do it.

Hence, Herm always talks on ESPN now how important the QB position is. ROFL

Pioli talking about the Great "trade down" scenarios and getting talent later. He better go back to NE so BB can work all the deals for him.

O.city 02-21-2013 01:22 PM

Pioli would have taken Warmack at 1, when teams are split if he's even the best G in the draft.

Actually, no he would have let Albert walk and drafted Joeckel.

Idk what he would have done.

He did draft Jeff Allen and Donald Stephenson high in the draft. I don't think that was by accident.

I'm actually pretty ****ing devastated that I thought he could do it, based on his illusions of how to win in the NFL.

And with BPA in mind, how the **** did we always draft for need? Like, every first round pick?

Because the biggest lie in football is "We draft best player available". Literally no team does that.

It really makes no sense. At all. If the BPA at your pick is a ****ing guard and you have two good guards (not specifically KC, we don't) you don't take a guard.

BPA is a great idea, when you don't have any needs.

Which one? Where he told Andy Reid not to lock in a QB?

A conversation directly with Reid about what the Chiefs SHOULD do is a little different than him speculating to journalists about what he thinks the Chiefs WILL do.

Bowser 02-21-2013 06:30 PM

Raise your hand if you can't wait to see Kiper and McShay go full reerun after we pick Geno Smith, talking about how we would have been better suited with a guard, tackle, or defensive lineman instead of quarterback.

Pioli is now gushing about how fantastic Russel Wilson's interview was, despite the fact that he failed to pick him when he had the chance in the third round. Lame.

Hootie 02-21-2013 06:48 PM

it would be hilarious if someone, while Pioli was talking about what he'd do if he were the Chiefs, would say "well now we know what the Chiefs shouldn't do..."

I wonder how Pioli would react to DISRESPECT on TV. He might just walk off set. That would be great.

Which is just flat out ridiculous. Usually I don't get mad when we miss on that "steal" because so did 31 other teams but we had a GAPING hole at QB and we didn't even ****ing draft one...and we let Russell Wilson (who I think will be the best QB in the NFL VERY soon) get drafted by someone else so we could take Donald Stephenson.

I don't even care if we took ****ing Foles...

the fact we passed on QB after QB after QB to take Jeff Allen and Donald Stephenson makes me want to yack.

He probably had it written into his contract with NFLN that he was not to be dissed in any way, shape, or form while on air. Hopefully Eisen and Deion **** with him non stop.

Hootie 02-21-2013 06:51 PM

Pioli talks about RIGHT 53...and then Wilson PWNS the interview and has what one scout said "top 5 talent if he were 3" taller" yet he Pioli overlooks him to take Donald ****ing Stephenson.

What a ****ing joke Scott is...the funny thing is, Wilson may have saved that dipshit his job if Crennel had the balls to play him over Matt (which I doubt would have happened anyways).

Either way. Christ.

Deberg_1990 02-21-2013 06:53 PM

heh, ironically, Passing on Russel Wilson is why Pioli is sitting where hes sitting right now.

Hootie 02-21-2013 06:54 PM

well lets be honest

Pioli's ego is SO MASSIVE he probably wouldn't have let Russell play this year anyways

O.city 02-21-2013 06:54 PM

Pioli had to take Stephenson, he new he ws letting Albert walk, had to have insurance. He also wasn't planning on having to find a new QB for a while.

Wilson would not have made it on the active roster with Pioli calling the shots. He would have been on our practice squad for a day before someone that actually knows football players (specifically quarterbacks) would have snatched him up.

I'd probably let the market set with Albert before I signed him. Asshole Pioli is right in that regard. If Chiefs signed Albert now, they would probably overpay.

I wouldn't sign him before the start of free agency. It's a buyers market. Why overpay for a position that's stocked in free agency when you can let him go out and set his price. If it's too rich for you considering, you move on to another guy.

I like Albert a great deal, but there are risks with him. I know his back has been given clearance, but running around in a physical is a lot different than the grind he'll be facing week in and week out during the season and over the course of the deal.

I don't mind overpaying for Albert. We have significant value with Charles and DJ, plus TJax, Dorsey, and Cassel will all come off the books.

-King- 02-21-2013 07:24 PM

How can we really overpay for him? There's a ceiling: Duane Brown, and a floor: 10th best paid LT. Just negotiate between that. No need to let him hit the market. And even if you overpay him, who cares?

Sure.

If he decides to go out into free agency and someone else wants to sign him, does he have to give us an option to match it etc?

'Hamas' Jenkins 02-21-2013 07:29 PM

Overpaying Albert for a few million is worth the risk of potentially losing him, especially when he's been a loyal soldier on a shit team with a terrible QB that has caused him to become vastly underrated.

You absolutely can overpay for him based on the current market. I'm not against it, but I'm also not thrilled giving a player tons of cash with a back issue.

An acute back injury.

There's absolutely no proof that it's a chronic problem.

mcaj22 02-21-2013 08:50 PM

2-14 garbage dumpster fire of a team with like 6 good players on the whole roster and people are worrying about overpaying to keep 1.

sad.

DeezNutz 02-21-2013 09:46 PM

Any amount that we might overpay Albert is going to look like what Struthers asks you to donate to third-world countries compared to what Pioli gave Cassel and Jackson.

Is it asking too much for that loathsome **** to die on camera?

Injury does not equal "issues".

Acute does not equal chronic.

JC had a fairly significant knee injury. He doesn't have knee "issues".

Hammock Parties 02-21-2013 09:59 PM

I still think Albert wasn't all that hurt. I think he decided to sit out a few games so the team could see how shitty they were without him. And they were shitty.

O.city 02-21-2013 10:02 PM

Dunno about that, but IIRC he was active a few games and dressed but didn't play. Wouldn't think he was hurt that bad if they did that.

mcaj22 02-21-2013 10:04 PM

took DJax 2 seasons to get paid by cheapskate Reid and Dorsey is from the Packers who are notoriously cheap for everyone but QB.

they play hardball like to have young guys on rookie contracts, push and pull when you have to pay guys that are 27,28 on their big money 2nd prime years contract

I think that's awfully far-fetched. As egomaniacal and self-concerned some NFL players can be, I think the vast majority genuinely want to play in every game and perform at their best. Shit, people do all sorts of crazy and harmful stuff to their bodies just to stay on the field. I just can't see Albert sitting out to prove a point. And if he did that, then **** him, we should let him walk. You're a paid professional, and that means you show up and bust your ass regardless. You don't decide not to play a couple games to teach someone a lesson. That would be bushleague.
