Smells worse than Routt did.

Well Sean Smith started for the #27 pass defense so it's not a stretch.

I kind of like the approach.

Fill the obvious holes with decent veteran depth......Draft the best player, regardless of position in every round.

Did I not just reference McCluster having a career day against him in Week 1?

So basically because he performed poorly in their scheme, he'll suck here too?

Dolphins did not run an attacking defense. They ran a ton of zone. Sean Smith is a man-to-man corner.

If he's here, he'll be press coverage and he'll do well.

Do you think everyone in the NFL runs man to man defense every play?

And you have to account for True Fans, so there's that.

Hoover 03-08-2013 10:39 PM

I'm fine with it. We need more depth.

The Franchise 03-08-2013 10:40 PM

He'd be interesting at FS.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-08-2013 10:40 PM

This signing is entirely based upon the value of the contract and what they intend his spot on the roster to be.

If he was signed for a few million a year to be a #3 corner then it's a nice deal. If he was signed to five plus to be a #2 it's an abomination.

O.city 03-08-2013 10:40 PM

If we can come out of FA, with another top CB, OG and a good TE, draft will get really interesting.

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-08-2013 10:41 PM

Robinson help recruit William Moore

Oh ****ing puhlease!! Give me a break man. You were sucking Alex Smiths dick and now we paid a little much because thats the market and hes shit?

shammus 03-08-2013 10:42 PM

Hopefully we got him cheap. It's a loaded FA market for corners so maybe Robinson is taking an 11th hour deal right before free agency starts while he still can? Seems like this signing couldn't be any worse than Routt, however he might be for depth, which we also need really in our entire secondary.

Or, he might be an upgrade over Lewis at Safety.....

Mother****erJones 03-08-2013 10:42 PM

Ya maybe Moore. I heard Moore wants to return to missouri

Deberg_1990 03-08-2013 10:43 PM

Welcome to KC Luke!

O.city 03-08-2013 10:43 PM

It's a depth signing. He's versatile, can play FS, nickel etc.

If we do get an OG, CB in free agency, we're about to hear a shit ton about how in love we are with Joeckel.

Whether we are or not.

Better than Routt

HotCarl 03-08-2013 10:45 PM

It doesn't rule out a CB in the 1st round after a trade down. a 30 year old corner isn't a long-term solution and all parties know that.

okcchief 03-08-2013 10:45 PM

At least they are being aggressive and shaking shit up. I'm not doing backflips about the moves, but we'll see how it all fits together. I liked the Reid and Dorsey hirings so I'll give them a few years and see how it's goes.

I don't like the Alex Smith thing and never will because of the picks we have given up. However, if you believe he's the best out there prove us ****ing wrong. If you think you can develop a 3rd round guy as well as you can Geno then prove us ****ing wrong.

This board has made as many incorrect assessments on QBs as some of these shitty GMs have. The difference is we can more easily sweep them under the rug.

BossChief 03-08-2013 10:46 PM

Hopefully, we gave him an easily cutable contract and aren't gonna pay him anything more than 2 million or so. Guys like Gamble are out there that are of similar age and would offer more.

3 years for a 31 year old corner that got burned up the las couple years?

I'm not gonna act excited about that. Sorry.

O.city 03-08-2013 10:46 PM

TBH, if they want to take Joeckel, fine. Do it. Bookend tackles for 6 plus years? Sure.

It's alot to spend for a RT, but look at this draft. Plus RT isn't a whole lot different than LT anymore. Our RT is going to have to be blocking Von Miller for a while. He better be good.

I bet he'll play like 2007-08 Surtain.

I'm not saying Robinson is going to be good but one thing about the Falcons is they had almost no pass rush. The corners were asked to cover for a long time.

Didn't he shut down Cassel? We have that going for us.

Hammock Parties 03-08-2013 10:51 PM

Routt was basically the worst corner in the league so saying someone is better than him isn't saying a lot.

He's the only pass rusher they had.

So yes, he did have a fine year, but when Tamba Hali was getting 10 sacks and no one else was getting shit, were you saying the Chiefs had a pass rush?

No you weren't.

Flowers will miss a game or two. It's getting to be his thing.

I'm kinda looking forward to seeing who John Dorsey drafts at corner. GB had some nice hits at that position the last few years.

To say they had "Almost no pass rush" is inaccurate.

Can't wait for camp reports about Dex looking like a beast against Dunta.

"See! Reid is gonna make something out of DMC!"

Bewbies 03-08-2013 10:55 PM

One thing that is for certain, we will see 2-3 personal foul penalties after he knocks the shit out of someone. Because of that I kind of hope to see him play safety.

Exactly they sucked in pass rush or they wouldnt have cut Abraham. You need more than 1 guy. Ask the Giants when they had Osi, JPP, Canty, etc

Man this is depressing.

We need to find a DL who can get a pass rush whether that's in the draft or free agency.

Houston and Tamba are good but we need more.

O.city 03-08-2013 11:04 PM

Switching from the 2 gap to the 1 gap will make a difference. A philosophy change is going to help a guy like Poe, who has the ability to be a ****ing monster in the middle, a ton.

O.city 03-08-2013 11:04 PM

But yes, we absolutely need a guy who can get to the passer from the DL. Another one that is.

I hope so, but I'm alluding more to Dorsey than anything. He's not getting a pass rush.

I have hope that Tyson Jackson can get more pressure in the 1 gap. He's athletic enough.
