I probably would. Get a 2nd back, but I would want a 2nd next year not 3rd.

Just won't receive a king's ransom this year

I bet car dealerships love you guys!

Well, yeah, but I don't want to take it in the pants on compensation for trading out, either.

Meh, this is just not a great year to have a top 10 pick and get the moon in a trade.

I don't either and I don't think we will. Just not very optimistic about getting great value in a trade.

Is that really taking it in the pants? If I knew we were gonna lock up Albert long-term, I'd feel a bit more comforable with it.

Mother****erJones 04-14-2013 10:31 PM

If we trade back and dont take a top OT, that is a good sign Albert's going to sign long-term, hopefully.

Eh, the truth is probably somewhere inbetween.

All this is just more reason as to why we really need to just draft Geno.

I don't understand why not take Geno? He's the best QB prospect in this draft and can sit for a couple years and develop and learn Andy's system til he's got it memorized. It's not like there's a top WR or defensive player worth number 1. Would love to take a shot on a 1st round QB for the first time in 30 years.

That's the problem with this year's draft - there are a ton of guys with POTENTIAL, but not many that are ready to step in and dominate. Hell, the prognosticators have flipped on who is the better tackle for the last few weeks from Joeckel to Fisher. Same with QB's, same with receivers, same with all the positions.

I think Reid and Dorsey realize this, and that is why they were busy in free agency. Essentially, they killed most of our "needs" through FA, and have turned our 1.1 pick into a luxury selection. The way they handled free agency sets up perfectly for drafting Geno if they wanted to. No pressure on the kid, just come in and watch how to prepare and get the feel for the speed of the pro game, then turn him loose next season. If he can beat out Alex for the starting gig next year, fantastic. If not, that's fine too, just take a little more time to get yourself acclimated.

For one reason..

He wants Jacksonville to draft Geno and beings that his own team doesn't have a fanbase like ours, he wanted to spend the time before the draft somewhere Geno would be discussed.

Pretty much. But the Geno discussion here turned into a LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM OR DIE IN A FIRE. So the entire discussion here was ruined. You can't take anything said about Geno here seriously because of how overwhelmingly biased people are.

He is a Jacksonville fan hanging out consistently on a Chiefs board....what else do you have to say! LOSER! Like anybody in there right mind, who had a life, would hang out this much on someone else's board. I thought he would troll around for a week, but he's still here trolling. Obviously, he is worse off than we originally thought.

People want Geno because this franchise hasn't taken a first round QB in 30 years. Go **** a dead wolf's ass.

What would really be funny is if Luke Joeckel ended up a first ballot HOFer and Geno Smith was playing in the CFL in 2015. Boy there would be some old threads being dug up lol.

Mother****erJones 04-15-2013 12:03 AM

Or if Joeckel was the next Jason Smith and Geno was the HOFer. :hmmm:

Reid made guys like AJ Feeley and Kevin Kolb look good.

Geno is far superior to both of those guys.

I'm not saying he couldn't get a lot of production out of Geno, but first ballot HOF? Not happening. Even McNabb isn't a HOFer.

That means the Chiefs won't draft Joeckel either because we have Albert who is a top 10 LT.

We threw the ball more than 100 times more than your team. And Gabbert has 0 pocket presence.

I don't give a shit who your QBs are. I was talking about our QBs in regards to Albert. Our QB play recently makes Albert's job a ****ing nightmare.

Mother****erJones 04-15-2013 12:32 AM

And if KC does take an OT, Fisher's the better prospect.

penbrook 04-15-2013 12:33 AM

Look at time of possession. Jags had the ball a lot more than the Chiefs which allowed them to pass the ball more. Plus we didn't want to pass because every time we did it was going to get picked off and when you have a top 3 rb in the NFL you don't pass you give your RB the ball.

How dumb are you? The Jags having a higher time of possession means Monroe had to work EVEN MORE and had MORE opportunities to give up tackles/sacks. And no one is questioning why the Chiefs ran. I am saying it makes Albert's job a ****load easier. Which it does.

B14ckmon 04-15-2013 12:36 AM

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/te...ushingAttempts

What do you think is easier? Being a LT for a team that runs the ball the majority of the time? Or an LT for a team that is being expected to pass constantly because they are on a 4th string RB?

How bout a team that has 1 good WR and an elite RB. That's us. Don't bring injuries up man everyone has them. We had a LG playing Center who has never played a snap at Center in the NFL because our starter broke his leg. We at one point had a Rookie LT, rookie LG and and our starting RT playing OG due to injury.

BossChief 04-15-2013 07:35 AM

Gabbert could probably reach his potential if your team had a line that would block for him. Time to take OT and franchise Monroe next year.

We both know there is no chance of that happening. As mad and bitter as you are right now about your own team.

The kid needed to go to a team that had good coaching and could afford to sit him and let him learn for a year...he went to a team with no receivers or coaches and failed under pressure.

Monroe is good for the left...time for Wormack or Lane Johnson for the right so you guys can keep Gabbert on your feet.

Gruden: Chiefs should draft Luke Joeckel

If Jon Gruden was making the No. 1 pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in next week’s NFL draft, his choice would be the player who is currently expected to be the choice -- Texas A&M left tackle Luke Joeckel.

Gruden explained in an ESPN conference call his reasons for taking Joeckel over fellow left tackle Eric Fisher of Central Michigan or any other top prospect.

“I don't know what (Chiefs coach) Andy Reid is going to do, certainly,” Gruden said. “But you're talking about a left tackle that not only won the Outland Award trophy as a true junior. He played for two different head coaches, two different systems. (He) helped (Ryan) Tannehill become a first rounder, helped Johnny Manziel win the Heisman, did it against the best America has to offer in terms of competition. Reliable, athletic, consistent, Joeckel would be the guy I would take.”

Gruden is well versed with Joeckel. Here is a video of Joeckel’s visit to Gruden's famous pre-draft camp.
