Not even close. I bought it thinking this. Wish I hadn't.

I did download Tomb Raider yesterday. Still engrossed in my latest go-around with Skyrim, but I'll give it a look at some point.

I like Far Cry 3 better than Skyrim. And there are plenty of similarities, but it isn't exactly Skyrim with guns.

Skyrim with guns would be Fallout 3, which was a great game, but again with the clunky combat from bethesda. Let me stop and look at my wrist and tab through a bunch of menus ever time I want to do anything, including kill something.

The story itself is more linear in FarCry 3, but there is a ton to do off mission, and I like the combat better.

You're going to be disappointed if you get into Far Cry 3 with that thought process.

It sort of is though. World/wise it is very smilar, obviously with some caveats, but it does have the same world feel.

QuikSsurfer 07-14-2013 11:08 AM

My haul thus far:

Skyrim: Legendary Edition
Hotline Miami
Bully
I Am Alive
Deadlight
Doom 3: BFG Edition

The only real similarity is that they give you 3 islands you can free roam on. Comparing that game to Skyrim is a slap in the face to Bethesda.

That's pretty cool, though. Are the islands devoid of story/interesting NPCs/side quests?

There are no interesting sidequests because there's nothing interesting on the islands. The sidequests consist of hunting challenges or killing the same bad guys over and over. There are the "get from point A to point B on this vehicles under X amount of time challenges" too. The main story is pretty cool, though. It's a good, fun game, that's for sure, but it just doesn't compare to Skyrim.

Hammock Parties 07-14-2013 11:30 AM

Well, shit.

Shogun 2: Total War is $7.50 right now. I highly recommend this amazing turn based strategy + real time tactical combat mix.

I've read that Dragon's Dogma is supposed to be good, but it's console only, my dude. Other than that, I don't know. I've only really played the Bethesda titles as far as open world RPGs go. I, too, had heard that Far Cry 3 was an FPS version of Skyrim so that's why I got it. I ended up selling it right back, though.

No, I got a Logitech F710.

Tried using another controller at first but the thumb stick was really hard and had sharp edges and was painful to use.

The Xbox 360 controller looked to have the same kind of thumb stick so I went with the logitech, which has a nice rounded, soft and smooth thumb stick.

Don't know, never used wireless ones.

I use a wired xbox360 controller. Plug-n-play, works flawlessly.

I feel like there were some better deals here than previous sales. So far I've bought Shogun 2: Total War, Fallout NV and Arma 2.

Good.

I went through 3 controllers (10 years ago) that sucked until I finally found the USB adapter. The manufacturers probably figured out how to make a good controller since then.

I bought a wireless 360 controller the other day, expecting it to work over Bluetooth or something, but you need a $20 receiver for it (since the controllers use radio instead of bluetooth). Once you've got it, though, I think you can connect up to 4 wireless controllers.

I got that for free. The company sent it too me because I was dumb enough to buy the first game they produced and it was unplayable. So, they gave me their redo for free.

It was fun. The game just didn't keep my interest. I played one game, won easily and stopped playing. I prob. abused the fight system though. You get a few dragons and no one will stop you.

Id rather stick with Heroes.

Yeah, so far I got Bioshock Infinite for $30, both Witcher games, Dishonored and Torchlight 2. Haven't bought anything in two days though, hasn't been alot to get, and I still have to get Last of Us and I have three or four games to get to on top of that.... it's probably not good to keep buying games to stack onto the total lol.
