The only sketchy part is Maclin probably wanted to leave Philly and rejoin Reid..even before the tampering happened. There was a lot of locker room friction going on...that should have been taken into account.

It's not justification....KC didn't have a WR1 after cutting Bowe....not that he was a #1 WR in 2014. They would have had to burn a high pick on his replacement in hopes it panned out after a few seasons. Reid's system takes a while to grasp. Maclin was a known product...and knew the offense. It's why they aggressively went after him...must have weighed the situation and thought it was worth the risk. They got caught and have to pay up now...I'm pretty sure they didn't think it would cost them a 3rd round pick.

It's semantics but it would have cost a draft pick either way to fill the void. Reid got the player he wanted. Good WR's, in their prime, are rarely let go...Sanders being an exception and KC got burned on the deal.

Just because DT said he was going to Chicago, doesn't mean that the Bears representatives talked to him. A player can say anything they want. It doesn't become tampering until the representative talks to the player or makes comments in the media about a player not on his team.
