Did Soria get his glove on that ball?

Verlander used to pitch 125+ every game.

I am serious... him playing right field cost the team 2 runs. BTW the shift isn't one guy that can't field playing in right field... when he is the second baseman. No hit Whit can't play defense either.

Al Bundy 07-15-2016 07:49 PM

BTW that wasn't a true shift.. that was the Royals knowing Whit can't play defense.

Yep, while having 99+ mph heat in his back pocket throughout the entirety of the game. Those days are long gone, though.

Nope.

You can't have a team built on pitching and defense and have your pitching lead the league in suckage and expect to do much winning

Al Bundy 07-15-2016 07:52 PM

Would be nice to not have a black hole at 2nd on offense AND defense.

Thanks, pete. In my mind, Soria HAD to make that play. Plus, it wasn't hit that hard either. Soria's gotta man his effing position.

Add in mediocre defense and you have an average team.

Whit is a blackhole. Can't field his position (as shown in the bottom of the last inning) and can't hit. No hit Whit is a dead spot in the order.

BTW you saw how pissed off Soria was at No hit Whit for misplaying the easy play and letting the 2nd run score.

I see that.. he looked completely lost. Didn't play any defense there. Omar Whitfante.

Al, I fear you are really taking this too hard. Whit is ok at 2nd base; he'll never be a Gold Glover, but he's ok. Actually, his real value is that he can play anywhere. He needs to be a utility guy, but he's still a decent second baseman.

Stinking Soria should have made that play. Period.

Anyway, hang in there buddy.

TomBarndtsTwin 07-15-2016 07:59 PM

Just not the same team as last two years. Injuries (and maybe two long Octobers?) have taken there toll on this team.

Even if we don't make it to the playoffs this year (which is looking pretty likely), some young guys got some valuable playing experience and we will be re-loaded and ready to go next year.

Never thought we'd miss Vargy so much. Be nice to have his consistency back next year. We'll just need to find another starter to replace Volquez.

Al Bundy 07-15-2016 07:59 PM

BTW Omar Whitfante did allow the second run to score by not playing defense and dropping the ball.

sedated 07-15-2016 08:02 PM

Whats amazing to me is how Al Bundy isn't considered the biggest moron in Royals threads.

If he is a troll, his level is grand master.

I think this has a lot to do with it.

petegz28 07-15-2016 08:03 PM

When was the last time our pitching staff went an entire game without giving up a HR?

jimidollar 07-15-2016 08:04 PM

Last year.

Al Bundy 07-15-2016 08:05 PM

Ohh well. Maybe the Royals can get them tomorrow. Hate to lose on a fluke play.

GloryDayz 07-15-2016 08:06 PM

Welp...

Meatloaf 07-15-2016 08:09 PM

I'm blaming Soria.

Nightfyre 07-15-2016 08:09 PM

Well boys, that is a tough way to lose a game.

C3HIEF3S 07-15-2016 08:10 PM

I am getting really tired of saying "welp, get em tomorrow".

lewdog 07-15-2016 08:12 PM

This game sucks.

siberian khatru 07-15-2016 08:13 PM

That shit won't fly in the second half

Al Bundy 07-15-2016 08:14 PM

We exit the all star break the way we went into it.

tk13 07-15-2016 08:20 PM

That was a bummer of a loss. Ned managed it like a 2nd half/playoff game. Didn't screw around, went right to his bullpen... and we lost on a bad bounce. It'd be nice to win tomorrow and get back on track.

KChiefs1 07-15-2016 08:26 PM

Cleveland is winning again.

I think we need to concentrate on the WC race.

Mostly you just need to focus on winning. The race is a byproduct.

All true, except we lost partly because the pitchers like giving up homeruns.

Well, and the offense continues to suck ass.

I mean, let's be honest, we shouldn't have even had two runs if Moyà catches a fairly routine deep fly ball.

Offense was pathetic tonight, pitching actually wasn't that terrible (for the Royals)

Yeah, none of the offensive players came to play tonight either. What are you gonna do, when you have black holes like Omar Whitfante playing everyday.

I hear ya, but what other options do the Royals have? Colon? He hasn't looked real impressive this year. Mondesi maybe? But hasn't played a lot of second and don't know if he's quite ready for The Show yet . . . .

bsroyals54 07-15-2016 08:50 PM

get em tomorrow.............and the next day...........................................and the next day..................................**** it 30 years of losing awaits!

Deberg_1990 07-15-2016 09:10 PM

welp, Chiefs season is only a few weeks away....

If they are serious about making a run next year I would see what it would take to get Dozier from the Twins. They aren't likely to compete before his contract is up or he declines at age 29 now. He is also on a silly low contract.
