or let a dog (Stumppy) do a Weinstein on the tires and see if that helps

You really aren't being helpful to Monty here. I think your sole intent is to be disruptive and troll this thread.

You will be banned from it momentarily unless Monty feels he is getting valuable info from you, which I doubt is the case.

Monty, it's your call. Do you want me to let this guy hang around?

I've played with the points ad nauseum and considering that I have a few more issues starting and running during the later parts of the season due to colder weather, this will help eliminate those problems and allow me to identify any other areas not previously addressed.

The one I bought took a little wiring work to get in and depends on where the distributor is located how easy it is to install, but if you're going to roll into a mechanic shop to look at vacuum, I'd have them do it. If it isn't a vacuum leak, it might be a compression problem which isn't fun.

One thing I'd do before you take it in is pull the plugs and make sure none of them are fouled.

Good luck!

Hey there, I was looking for some real help and have yet to get some, but I set my expectations pretty low in the first place, so no worries. It is what it is, but I appreciate you looking out for me. :)

I agree with your line of thinking and all of the plugs are good. I actually tested them individually when I was trouble shooting the starter a few weeks ago. I've done some googling on the HEI and think it would be a good idea to have someone else do it. I've never had it in the shop yet to save $$, but need to bite the bullet at some point.

At this point, Monty, I say these steps are the next you should take:

1. Get all tasted up for the best-good Rueben sammich you ever had.

2. Road trip to SAUTOville.

3. Enjoy best-good Rueben sammich you ever had while taking in the SAUTO magic show.

4. Have many miles of worry free best-good motoring.

Do the right thing by your faithful ride. Take it to SAUTO, I always say.

And I always say that, too.

Dinny
