Well, opening day next season is March 29th and the season ends on September 30th.... I'm sure they did that just so the season ends on a Sunday, but it's not like finding a few days is that difficult. Play all three in one stadium to reduce travel (it's not like WC #2 is getting a home game now). Tonight would be game 3.

I think they should find a way to make this first Wildcard matchup a 3 game series.

Eh.... the DBacks would have won the Central and they had a winning record against the Dodgers. Two seasons ago, any of the top three teams in the NL Central would have won the East or West (and by 5+ games), but the 98 win Pirates were out after one game (while the East champ/90 win Mets made it to the WS LMAO ). The Pirates would have won the West a couple years prior. Both AL WCs would have won the Central the year prior.

Yeah, sports aren't fair, but it seems kind of dumb to reward a weak division winner over a WC team that not only had a better season, but a better season with a better team in their division.

It's at least better than it used to be... hell, 100 win teams used to miss the playoffs (granted, not that often).

Can't say I like the one game playoff either but it does put an emphasis on having a great front line starter you can pitch in one game.

And I won't say it's over. Lots of homers are hit in this park and the Dbacks bullpen is less than shutdown.

Heck you only need one, maybe two front line pitchers to take the entire post season. See Baumgartner a few years ago or Johnson and Shilling for the D-Backs.

Yeah, that's my issue with it though. It'd be the equivalent of having an entire NFL playoff game decided by how good of a center you have. I just don't like a game that's normally decided by how a pitching rotation does randomly decided by one guy in the "playoffs."

It's not really about the one game. It is about keeping interest in the league during the dog days and after football has returned. The D-Backs and Rockies would not have had much to play for the last couple of weeks with the way the Dodgers ran away with the division. Now their fans were excited to go to games into late September.

Nobody is arguing against the WC. The issue is the one game format. Although, personally, I have no problem with it.
