Doesn't seem like there's much point, ya know?

Lol so you're still hanging onto the the past? I get it that folks think we shouldn't be a contender this quickly and hate that many of the best players want to play in vegas but this year our organisation actually did things the hard way. We made smart trades, lowered the cap and relied on our farm system instead of going all in on stars like Timo from SJS!!. And it's lead us to where we are in the conference today. We deserve respect for that imo.

Great. Finally they show a Blues game on TV, once they've been eliminated from the playoffs. Perfect.

For all the crap with digital ads and blackout issues, etc... I've loved their switch to espn+ (and personal get it "free" through a cell plan). And bonus, you would be blacked out from the Yotes!

Looking forward to the NHL playoffs, I never watch many regular season games.

I'm the same. I love hockey if I can watch it in person. So much goes on the camera doesn't see but the cup changes it. Well that and there isn't much other left to watch since Caitlin Clark is done for the season.

Saying I need to let it go is like saying I need to let go of the gum on the bottom of my shoe. It's not particularly pleasant that it's there, but it's hardly impacting my enjoyment of watching real teams play.

You're basically like all the Bills and Bengals fans here. Your team just isn't relevant enough for me to care.

First time in 14 seasons the Blues miss the NHL playoffs.

Why is the NHL not starting its playoffs this weekend? Bizarre choice by whoever made it, whether it was the league or TV executives.

Yeah, Blues fans have been really lucky in that respect. They rarely miss the playoffs. probably just a handful of seasons in the 38 years I've been watching them. They'll be back next season.

They missed in 2017-2018 in which they lost a win-or-go home with the Avalanche in Denver in Game 82 to the end season.

Didn't even pay attention. I couldn't have even told you that was the result. I just don't care.

Again, until the Knights actually accomplish something, my base assumption is that they'll fail when it actually matters. Just like the Bengals and Bills.

Lol I've never denied that we've made mistakes. People hate us partly because of what happened with Flower but he was trash towards the end and behind the scenes was causing problems so I wasn't bothered!!. As a young franchise mistakes will happen but we're in a better place now and so far this year there has been no drama.

The AVS have won one cup in twenty-two years buddy so let's not act like ya'll are the "Chiefs" of hockey :D . That belongs to the Lightning who I have a huge amount of respect for and admire what they've built over there.

Which brings us back to where all this started. People don't like your team because your fans (that's you) are obnoxious. There's no point in trying to have any sort of discussion because you just make shit up to argue about and then act like you've made some sort of point.

Lol I've stated nothing but facts in this debate and admitted where my team has gone wrong In the past but still your bitterness shines through smh it seems like that playoff series against us has left a mark you'll never get over despite winning the championship the very next year!!..heaven knows how you'll feel if we win it all this time  .

I didn't say you did. I said "let's not act like ya'll are the chiefs" which is true. You keep saying we're the bengals but that's belittling us a little because we've had more success than them both in the regular season and the playoffs.

I understand that they want to maximize the number of games they can snow, but it's frustrating that the Avs are pretty much always in late series in the first round. Even in MT it's a bit rough.

Yeah, the quirkiness of the NHL... start the playoffs on a Monday night, but put McDavid and MacKinnon in 10pm EDT time slots.

AZ is pretty perfect this time of year being in Pacific time, with 4/4:30 and 7/7:30 double headers... but will cope with early morning replays this postseason.

Bearcat 04-18-2023 07:33 PM

Not really surprised, yet would have expected the Leafs to come out with some urgency... and then it's 3-0.

Tough call on the challenge... win the challenge and you're only down 4-2. Lose the challenge and TB has a two man advantage for a minute and a half... and now it's 6-2.

What an implosion. :shake:

DaFace 04-18-2023 08:26 PM

Didn't it seem like Toews would **** up once per game last postseason, too? He usually makes up for it but...ouch.

JohnnyHammersticks 04-18-2023 09:37 PM

This is gonna be a tough series. The Krakheads are no pushover. Led the league in 5 on 5 goals.

Fish 04-18-2023 09:55 PM

Frustrating game. Avs aren't really playing badly, but just can't get any breaks. Lots of close shots off the shoulder, off the bar, or both. Playing really physical, I like to see that. Still frustrating.

Grubs is playing well, gotta give him that.

You definitely know this is a game he would love to win.

First games are weird. If things hold as they are right now, all four road teams in the West will have won their first games.

Barron on the Jets with 75 stitches to the face to start the series after taking Brossoit's skate to the face...yikes.

With the size of the bandage 75 seemed like way to much, maybe 7 but was lucky to not lose an eye .

75 stitches would be for like 30+ cm length wound , for mouth you might need inside and out maybe but it looked high on the cheek .

It was across his forehead. Hard to tell exactly how high up.

Let of it was above eye he maybe have had multiple cuts but 75 still seems high.

Awfully general statement there. It absolutely depends on the tissue being stitched (I've done more than my fair share of "sewing" on folks) but more often than not you make them a hell of a lot smaller and closer together on facial wounds to limit scarring. Some of it (especially if much of it were up on the forehead) may have also needed to be layered.

It must have been multiple cuts , not a lot of skin on the forehead to have multiple layers , normally it’s what 2/3 stitches per cm let’s say you go to five that’s still a lot of area .

Yes, it'd be a pretty good sized area. 5 1/2 per cm (or roughly one every 1/16") is what I'd suspect to see on a facial wound (or even closer). With that you'd be looking at roughly 4" (or just over 10cm) if you're only doing one layer.

I do agree with your thought that 75 seems like a fairly high number, but I guess in reality, we didn't get a great look at it. I'll add that until you're sewing, you don't really know the edges and such that might take "another one here or there".

My wife who has done her air share of surgical stitches , she was planing on going into surgery before doing family medicine and still does plenty of lump and bumps clinics seems to think75 seems high as well but it still would be pretty scary thing to go through even if 0 stitches ,after taking a few sticks and skates to the face /half shield I went back to a full cage just wasn’t worth it.

Monticore 04-19-2023 09:12 AM

My friend playing oldtimers who is 60 still doesn’t wear a cage and took a puck to the eye few weeks ago unless you are getting paid millions it isn’t worth it .

I think the only thing you can say is you never know when "your time" will be as a sports fan... just 10 years ago, I never would have expected the Chiefs, KU, and Avalanche would win championships in a ~10 month span... or the Royals (as short-lived as it was) and Chiefs would ever be relevant.

Minnesota-Duluth won back to back natties a few years ago...
