I left this game early about twenty years ago now. Have never done it at a baseball game ever again.

Edit: Also, the 2003 Royals were 17-5 in April?

Yeah if you get stung once by leaving early, it teaches you a lesson. Never know what you could miss.

Yeah that was like the one light through the clouds in the 2000's years. Didn't last though.

That's cool

GabyKeepsMeWarm 06-07-2024 09:39 PM

I have one minor complaint about the game, and it's not really about the game, as much as it is to the recent rule change about intentional walks. I think the pitcher should still have to throw the balls to the catcher on an IBB. With BWJ at third, who knows if one gets away from the catcher, and BWJ scores on a wild pitch. Just putting it out there...

They'd never admit to it, and being in the first quarter helps stave off a leaving early, but I wonder if anyone melted down and left Texans/Chiefs early?

They are definitely a part of making it so memorable. I remember getting to the party we were going to and people freaking out about the game. My buddies who I had gone to and subsequently, left the game with, and I thought for sure they were messing with us until we watched the local news. Thankfully, I went to Plano not Plano East (we had gone to support the PE quarterback who was a friendly acquaintance and close with some of my good friends) so it didn't sting as much, but man, how brutal to lose like that.

DJJasonp 06-07-2024 09:57 PM

I was there and it didn't feel like anybody did. Somebody was bitching about Mahomes beside me very briefly though.

Nice come back win for the Royals last night. Bobby Witt is a beast and has a real flair for coming thru in the clutch. :thumb:

I was there and was irritated and a little shell shocked at the start of the 2nd quarter. But I vividly remember telling my buddies standing next to me “I’m honestly not even super worried yet” and we all laughed at how we’d be heading to the exit already if Alex Smith was still our QB.

In other words, it wasn’t that difficult to know by then as a Chiefs fan that no deficit was insurmountable with PM15. There was some serious bitching and groaning going on but I don’t remember anyone talking off.

cabletech94 06-08-2024 06:55 AM

I’ll be honest, I tuned out after the 8th. Back was hurting, but my kid records the games. Once I replayed a few hours later, man the energy from our team in the bottom of the 9th. Wow. We can go as far. We really can!! This is fun!!

Bobby Witt is turning into George Brett with Bo Jackson's athletic ability.

I got really close. When the Texans went up I told my wife I was getting two beers and we were leaving when they were gone. I downed the first one on the tarmac then they got the punt fumble on my way back to my seat.

I was at a Royals game where they got down 10-0, tied it up, then still lost.

Ever since then I'm always nervous during great comebacks that only tie the score.

Same here. Was listening all the way through and had a book that I would read a chapter or two awhile listening. And Denny (and you and me too) have been around long enough to know that every once in a while a game like this happens.

Fun as hell to listen on the patio as the breeze got a little cooler.
