Welp, Rat's Life!:(

Excellent job this season Bill, perhaps a raise and apology is in order for Flory?

Better kill it in the portal now

the death of college bb.
There needs to be some changes. Like, if you're getting NIL money, it's a two-year no-transfer contract, and you can't get the money until you either graduate, or officially enter the NBA draft. It's sad what is happening to one of my favorite sports. |
You can't get the money until you graduate is boomer dumbassery wtf man
I like the two year no-transfer rule though, but would need caveats. Like, if the coach bails the no transfer is null and void My idea is to have players sign contracts just like coaches, complete with buyouts in both directions and opt outs if a coach leaves too. Player outplays his contract at a mid major? They have option to renegotiate. Duke wants you? They pay your school a pre-negotiated buyout before you can go. School doesn’t want you to stay? They pay the player a buyout to separate. |
Quote:
I miss seeing players develop at a school and then having mid-majors loaded with seniors who grew together and became a threat to disrupt the power conference schools hold on the F4, etc. Bill's best teams were combinations of 4-5 year players with talented freshmen. |
Quote:
I don't like the idea of a 19 year old kid getting tons of dough, while playing. Kinda removes some of the urgency from playing hard every night. I also feel like the contract has to include language about playing in the post-season as well (see all the College FB players sitting out bowl games). Either they are student athletes - or it's simply a minor league for NFL/NBA, but the in-between place we're in right now is a joke. |
That means you have to be good enough to get into the NBA OR have to graduate in order to get the cash you have earned. Both are a violation of a players' rights so you can enjoy a sport more.
It's boomer dumbassery. I agree that this in between isn't fun though |
Quote:
And honestly who gives a **** if they’re students anyway? If they’re getting paid, I prefer they work on their craft to earn that money. Spend more time training, less in class (that they likely rarely attend anyway). Kids who want to, can attend classes. Makes sense for the ones who won’t go pro. Silly for Darren Peterson to pretend he will be on campus to learn. |

Quote:
A few reasons. AJ Storr does absolutely nothing well, other then volume score. He doesn't get rebounds, assists, steals, or blocks despite being 6'7". Remy could draw fouls better, he could pass waaay better, and was more active. Storr was a 46% 2FG and he needed the ball in his hands a long time to do it. Remy was a 51% 2FG scorer and while still not great he could get the ball and make a play quickly. Also while Storr was 8 inches taller than Martin, Martin was actually a BETTER rebounder. Per 40 min stats while at KU Remy was 5.7 rebounds vs AJ Storr at 4.3. That is incredible. At least Hall is a chucker who can draw fouls and rebound. Along side a super efficient scorer and Dix maybe it wouldn't be too bad I just don't see elite KU so soon again. |

Look, nobody is saying the players don't deserve NIL. The reality is the sport is simply less appealing than it was before. Just about every college fan agrees except you. |

Where does this NIL money come from? Is it all donor money or "sponsorships"? And why cant we know the amouint per player and or team? They are no longer "students". They are getting paid.
|
Quote:
Not that I think everything has been burned to the ground with NIL and the transfer portal... much like those Bucknell and Bradley losses, you can't look at results immediately after a huge shift and say 'I told you so, everything sucks now!' We'll have to see over 5 or 10+ years how teams deal with it, how players deal with it, adjustments across the board, etc.... and in the long run if it really impacts the product on the court or not. |
Quote:
Giving the keys to the kingdom to Juan and KJ for two years in a row there is very little hope. You need multiple NBA players for it to work around them..so it didn't work. I think it is a little bit of both (portal and hitching the wagon to the wrong players). If we are still floundering after next year then it is time to reevaluate things. Trust in Self until then. His loyalty may be his biggest flaw but with Juan KJ and HD gone it should be addition by subtraction. Self can coach. He's just a bad GM at times. |
CG - Darryn Peterson
CG - Elmarko Jackson SF - Josh Dix PF - Keyshawn Hall C - Magoon Gwath (Flory but can shoot a little, 2nd in block pct nationally) ------ PF - Bryson Tiller C - Cooper Schwieger (will take less to play here as from OP) PG - David Coit I feel like that is the best we can do. Gonna need DP to be a future NBA HOF |
