I agree - if Scherzer asked out, there's nobody to really criticize. But Max did not look like a man that asked out of that ballgame. He looked to be lobbying to stay in and seemed not at all happy to have to give up the ball.

Yes, I'm watching this game.

We don't know because we are not privy to that conversation. He may not looked like a man that asked out, I will agree with you on that. But I also do believe that the manager probably asked his catcher his thoughts as well. If the catcher says that he's losing his effectiveness, on top of that he is coming off the tweaked hamstring, you have to take that into consideration.

Either way, all of that is irrelevant since they got out of that inning without any damage.

What? The runner scored. That was hardly irrelevant.

And how much effectiveness could he have been losing - it was the first hit he'd given up all night. And you yanked him for Solis - Scherzer could throw lefthanded and be almost as good as Solis.

You don't yank Scherzer unless he asked out but if you do, you damn sure don't go to the 4th/5th best arm in your 'pen to get you out of it. And now Scherzer is almost certainly done for the series having thrown a whopping 98 pitches.

This is a lot like when Dusty was 'saving Zambrano for game 5' in a game they lost in 4. He just isn't worth a damn at managing a game or playing in the moment.

Yu Darvish just about hit someone in the face. Saved by the bill of his helmet or there would've been a major injury there.

Bearcat 10-10-2017 09:48 AM

Didn't expect they'd get 2 hit by Yu Darvish.... and WTF do you throw Greinke out there in the 6th at 103 pitches? Not even Yost would do something like that. :shake:

Yeah, Greinke not doing well in the Wild Card game screwed the D-Backs. It caused us to run our Ray in that game so he was not as effective as he might have otherwise been in game 2.

Ah well, excellent year and way more than I expected from them this year. But when the Dodgers are on they are very, very good. Not sure anyone has a chance to stop them.

I had their season opener on just for the hell of it and remember thinking, who the hell are these guys? LMAO They're a fun team to watch.

Is there a reason Diamondbacks fans hate Puig? I found something about 2013 and Luis Gonzalez, but that seems pretty weak, especially being 4 years ago.... I assume there's more to it than that? He seems pretty entertaining.

Puig doesn't "play the game the right way."

i dont even know what that means, dude plays it the right way, once in a while he will do something stupid like try8ing to stretch out a single into a double, but outside of that, dude is more then likely going to win a gold glove had and excellent offensive year, been really good in the post season.

He just likes to troll a little bit and show emotion. Doing the same thing NFL and NBA players been doing for decades

Strasburg with some apparent vaginal flu that's keeping him from pitching an elimination game today.

And yet Mike Matheny lives.

I guess some teams still care about the product on the field.

Looks like Strasburg is suddenly feeling better and is going to go today.

im not sure he's feeling better, but he knows if he doesnt pitch and they lose, its going to be a huge mark on his career. He's kinda forced into this, but thats what the great ones do. We will see what happens.

That'll happen when a few million people simultaneously call you a pussy.
