Well, going into it I would have been happy with a draw but now it feels like a big disappointment. The penalty will be the story rather than the US standing up to a pretty good team and not breaking otherwise in the second half. But it only takes one moment.

Well, we just tied a country the size of Gladstone
|
Acosta saved the American tournament by fouling Bale late when Turner was out of goal he would have put that in.

1 shot on goal for the US. Guess it could have been worse than a draw.
|
This team is pretty bad at passing, they are slow, unsure, and in general not very good save the goal keeper.
|
I’d say we were pretty good for about 60 minutes, after that the team looked tired and unable to deal with Wales turning up the heat, their physicality. We never really threatened in the second half.
But the win was still all there for the taking if not for the poor challenge and the penalty. A win would have surely seen us advance and we were 10 minutes away |
Hard path through now. Gotta hope for Iran to tie or beat wales.

It means more to them than us. |

The first half for the US was the best half of soccer the US has played at the Worlld Cup since 2nd half 2010 Slovakia or second half Italy 2006.
|
I think some are over thinking how hard the path for the US out of the group is right now in betting terms they are -125 to advance.

So it's basically going to come down to who can batter Iran the most and can avoid a hiding vs England.

Still disappointing. And using Yedlin? The guy is 175 years old (in soccer years) and he played very MLS-y.
I hope now they're ready for the style of WC play. It was obvious they were not ready for the 6'5" wing who came in after halftime. He really used his size to bump and cajole and frustrate our back line. |
