Most don't. I believe he's put himself in a position where he damn near has to take the Arkansas job.

Personally I'm pretty excited about it. His style of play and yearly whoring rub me the wrong way.

NewChief 03-23-2011 10:03 AM

This is from last year when the Anderson to Arkansas rumors were starting up and many were saying there is no way Anderson would leave Mizzou to come slum in Arkansas. Not sure that I'm excited about it, but we need a change.

That being said, there's no way that Arkansas is going to buy out Anderson's contract for 2.5 million. This was the discussion on talk radio here yesterday at least. Pelphrey gets one more year is my guess.

As far as the bad blood between Anderson and Arkansas... that's in the past. That was a result of Frank Broyles and Nolan Richardson's fallout. Jeff Long has since reconciled the program with Nolan (and thus Anderson). I don't think there's any bad blood any longer.

That being said, Anderson won't be at Arkansas next year. It might happen down the road a bit, but it won't be next year.

I think that would be a good thing for MU if he goes. He just isn't a very good coach, IMO. His offensive philosophy is horrible, he routinely plays lineups that put you at a huge disadvantage, and he isn't a very good recruiter.

Don't disagree with any of this.

The reality is that there aren't any coaches available that you can point to and say are definitely better than Anderson.

There are some promising mid majors, but more often than not they bust on the big conference stage.

We are also competing with OU, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, and NC State for a coach.

NewChief 03-23-2011 10:11 AM

I really encourage people to go back and read this thread. What a difference a year makes. Both in Mizzou fan attitude toward Anderson and the likelihood of him making a move to Arkansas. ROFL

You are really going to mock people now? Pretty lame move on your part.

I'm not mocking anyone (okay... I'm mocking truebigdog and Reaper16 just a little). I'm just saying that a year makes a huge difference. In addition: it's still not a done deal (and I won't believe it's a done deal until he's coaching his first game here), and I'm not entirely sure that I like the move as an Arkansas fan.

Spicy McHaggis 03-23-2011 10:35 AM

Not sure if it's a repost or if the "source" is true but a station in Arkansas is reporting Anderson is gone again.

No, but at least you may get a coach that can recruit talent to run a system that may actually compete to win a title at some point. As a KU fan, I hope the rumors are wrong and he signs a long term deal with MU.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-23-2011 10:40 AM

You will never, ever beat an elite backcourt with Anderson's system, and you will almost always get killed inside.

Unfortunately, great CBB teams always have one of those two things.

However nice his system is against middling non-cons, when it comes to tourney time, we be ****ed.

'Hamas' Jenkins 03-23-2011 10:41 AM

It's not a coincidence that he's won one time against Kansas, and the one time that we won the game it happened because we switched to a zone and they couldn't shoot us out of it.
