He has been highly effective the last two years and wants market value and to be allowed to continue to play the position he has played for us the last 5 years.
I can't see how they think the team is improved by replacing Albert (who is entering his prime) with a rookie that is coming from a spread offense and only getting a late second for our own
top ten left tackle.

Branden Albert is good, but pointing to him giving up one sack last year as some kind of virtuoso performance is just stupid.
First of all, Branden Albert didn't even play a full ****ing season.
Second of all, the Chiefs attempted 475 passes last season, the fourth fewest in the league. Philadelphia attempted 618, good for 7th most.
Now, 143 more passes doesn't seem like much, but the Chiefs also spent most of those attempts on short yardage, horseshit, "in name only" passes, which is why they averaged 6.2 ypa in the passing game, good for THIRD WORST IN THE LEAGUE.
So, the Chiefs threw less than 90% of the league and when they DID pass the ball, it was to get rid of it on short patterns that didn't require a deep drop.
AND branden albert didn't even play the full season.
So quit saying that he's top ten in pass protection based on last year, because you sound like an idiot.
The point is not that Branden Albert is a probowler. He isn't. He is good enough, though. Or, rather, he
has been good enough for what we have done in the past on offense. Maybe he isn't going to fit what we will do on offense in the future, though?
I think he would be. But people are going around treating the guy like he's God's gift to blindside protection, and that' simply inaccurate. Shit, the Chiefs' offensive line gave up
40 sacks in 475 passing attempts last year. The Lions gave up
29 sacks in 740 pass attempts. THAT is elite.
No one on this offensive line - NO ONE - is irreplaceable.
Once again, for the record,
I think we should extend albert and draft Geno. But this argument that Albert is super duper duper has gotten out of hand.
