It's not Sneed vs. Bolton, it's Sneed vs. Gay. Both are in the last year of their contracts. Bolton's contract runs through 2024.

staylor26 04-03-2023 09:34 AM

I like our chances less if he's released.

O.city 04-03-2023 09:44 AM

Yeah, if he's released I wouldn't hold my breath on it. But shit, his market just isn't coming together at that price.

We haven't had a dominant LB like Bolton since Derrick Johnson, and then hadn't had a dominant LB like that since the great one Derrick Thomas. You've replaced greatness in the secondary reliably since Andy Reid got here, in fact it's almost guaranteed that Sneed won't be here long, but Bolton will get another contract even if it means Gay walks. You've only replaced greatness in the LB core a couple times since the greatest to ever do it in Red and Gold. Look, I really love Bolten but stud CBs are way more valuable than stud MLB's. I'm not sure if you are an MU game or something but your take isn't based in reality.

I don't see them cutting him. If anything they just wait till after June 1st to trade him. Will be the same Cap savings and a team might be more willing to pony up a pick if a injury or something happens.

Cards could just sit on this for awhile.

No it's based in reality, he's already broken the franchise record for tackles.

2022

Bolton - 180 Combined Tackles - 72 Assisted - 2 sacks - 2 INT

Sneed - 108 Combined Tackles - 33 Assisted - 3.5 sacks - 3 INT

The lockdown corner, days of Revis island aren't as prevalent anymore. In today's NFL everyone gets beat on passes. You're going to give up yards you just have to make sure you don't give up the big play. Hence why we could slot Williams, Cook and McDuffie into a Super Bowl winning defense. Bolton is always around the ball, and his 72 combined tackles more overshadow the only 1 extra INT a CB has for the year over a LB and only 1.5 sacks more as well. I wish we could keep them both, but I'd bet money Gay is gone, Sneed is gone, Bolton stays for a second contract when it comes time to pull that trigger. Bolton made the defensive play of the game in the Super Bowl against the Eagles that helped us stay in the game before halftime. Also now Sneed has a concussion and hip issues he's dealt with this last year where Bolton has been a beacon of consistency for his first two years in the league. I have no allegiances to MU, I have allegiances to game breakers who will be in the ring of honor one day, Bolton will go into the ring before Sneed does.

I'm a MU game and I have no idea who Bolten even is.

Let's see who gets the bigger contract.

You don't think he's ready to chase a ring at this point in his career? I would have thought we had a better chance if he's released, but maybe I'm wrong.

It always comes down to cash man. People always talk about chasing a ring but it's normally dollars that do the talking.

You can't compare position contracts and equate it to value.

Best way to do it would be...

Would you rather have Hitchens back or Ward. (current roster)

Yeah, just like last year when he "lost sleep" over a complete rebuild of the defensive backfield (almost exclusively through the draft) and the WR position.

Agreed completely. I'd certainly be interested if we can get him for a reasonable amount without giving up a pick.

If we can convince him to take a back loaded 3 year deal or something. And not break the ****ing bank...

I DN

It depends, hell if he will take a 1 year 10 million I will call it a win.
