This is sort of bittersweet being an Iowa fan, because I just despise Nebraska. And Nebraska doesn't put up much of a fight in basketball. Although it was funny when KU hung 76 on them on football.

Nebraska played in a title game this decade. Whens the last time Iowa did?

CaliforniaChief 06-09-2010 04:52 PM

I think Iowa/Nebraska could become a great rivalry if indeed this does pan out.

Yeah, most likely. I guess I just want some attempt made to salvage the Big XII instead of waiting to get chosen like streetside whores. :shake:

Hearing #KU has had a lot of "discussions" with other conferences about joining Been told Mtn.West was not one of them Pac 10 may have been

according to him, it's over, the big 12 is gone in 2012

BWillie seems like a nice guy and everything. But in addition to that it seems like he is always wrong or just generally misinformed.

Titty Meat 06-09-2010 04:54 PM

I see Ohio state and Iowa fans will have repleaced MU and KU fans. This will be fun.

It really depends on how you frame it. Iowa's on quite a nice little run right now. Ferentz has built a very good program that not only competes in the Big Ten but also wins bowl games. Pelini is bringing Nebraska back on the upswing and certainly they have far more tradition and championship history than the Hawkeyes ever will have. But I think the two teams would be pretty evenly matched with a slight edge to the Hawkeyes THIS year. But that could change, of course.

Oh, sorry, I must have forgot about all the conference and national championships Iowa has won in the last 10 yrs. And it was pretty funny when NU beat KU 36 years in a row.

the Talking Can 06-09-2010 04:55 PM

nebraska is a solid pick up for the big 10

you've got a bevy of tradition rich schools that will usually be in the top 25

i get why they did it, round it off with nd and that conference is golden for awhile

No doubt it'd be a great move. Thats why moving to the Big Ten is great for Nebraska.

Possibly, but that doesn't add a market.

That spanking really hurt ROFL

That's a pretty fair assessment, the programs aren't that far apart. Or at least not as far apart as many Iowa fans seem to think.

Again, my set-up of the "new Big Ten" teams is purely speculative...but I think having Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Northwestern as divisional foes would surpass the quality of KU, MU, Iowa State, Colorado, and K-State.

Then again, the Big Ten could go with a North/South distinction too.
