well I certainly was never dumb enough to think Kobe was in the same league as LeBron James...

I don't give a ****. Dirk is the purest, most truthful champion in the history of professional sports.
All other Finals MVPs have an asterisk next to their names. *not Dirk |

The purest thing I can compare it to in football terms, a championship driven mostly by a single individual and achieved without outside influence would be the 1996 Packers, or perhaps the 1985 Bears, with Walter Payton and Brett Favre playing the Dirk Nowitzki role. Certainly the Drew Brees Saints could also qualify, although that championship was somewhat tainted by the favoritism the league bestowed upon New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. The Dirkness was a championship run for the ages in all sports. |
Kobe is my least favorite player of all-time. I think the "he's the ultimate NBA closer" talk I hear on TV just pushed me so far over the edge. I honestly don't think he's a top 10 player of all-time. Top 20 sure.
He might be. I admit I am very biased against him. I do stand firm by my stance that he simply is not a closer, and never has been one. He's had as many clutch moments as he's had choker moments. I do know that he's never had any postseason games like LeBron had last year Game 6 against Boston and years back against Detroit where he torched them and scored his team's final 28 points or something ridiculous like that. LeBron is playing at a level right now we haven't seen since MJ. MJ, though, distances himself SO FAR from the pact because he was...THE ULTIMATE...closer. Something we'll probably never see again. His level of clutch is simply off the charts. That's what made MJ the legend he is. |

Dirk had to overcome watching Shawn Marions jumpshot

LeBron is a whole new tier than Kobe has ever been in. Kobe is one of the best ever, but LeBron is a lot better.

I like the Favre comparison myself. Truly one for the ages though. It may stand the test of time as the greatest championship won in sport since man picked up a ball. |

But the 1998 Bulls disprove your theory. Read: http://www.newyorker.com/archive/199...IBRY_000017085 and then link me to Dirk's Moment. |

Kobe is just too old now...even though, you know, he's putting up the same numbers he's put up every year. (that's what the Kobe ballwashers want you to believe) the Lakers tried out super-teaming the Heat and they ended up putting together the dumbest ****ing roster I've ever seen. Nash and Kobe? What? What? Ron Artest in a D'Antoni system? Riiight. Trade Kobe for Mayo and expiring contracts to Dallas and let Nash run the show again with a lights out shooter and I bet the Lakers at least make the playoffs and maybe even win a round. |
Lakers will end up making the playoffs. Heck the league would love to see a Spurs/Lakers first round match up.
|
if they want to "fix" their team...they should trade Kobe.
It won't happen...so they need to blow it up and trade EVERYONE...trade Dwight for $0.50 on the $1. I just can't see Kobe being good enough anymore to win any titles as THE MAN. They tried to give him a super team and it doesn't work. He's just not in the LeBron/KD league and it's not close. time for the bandwagon Lakers fans to jump on OKC or something...at least you can all be like "it's the closest team to us!!!" |
basically what I'm trying to say is
if Kobe wants that 6th ring he better enjoy being a bench player for the Heat |

I hope the fakers get hot at the end of the year and D'Antoni comes back next year. Rinse and repeat for that following year. |
And just like that the Spurs are blowing out the nets. No Manu or Timmy either. GO SPURS GO!!!!

This could be a lonely next 10 years for Lakers fan. I predict we're going to see all of you bandwagoners find a new one...probably OKC around these parts. |

They show flashes of they can be good and its starting to come around, but its not quite there, at some point the Lakers are going to have to go on a little run by they have won 7 out of their last 10 games. Its a start they have some quality wins in there and some come backs. This team isnt close to where it needs to be and right now they are the 10th seed and needs to do something good and need some help! Hell, Kobe played well, but in the 4th there was some turn overs, but that was on everyone. Metta takes the most stupid shots with so much time on the clock. I would love to see him traded for pretty much anyone. Dude has no latteral movement anymore on D. Guys just fly by him. Kobe's lost some, but he still plays guys fairly well. |

so I take it you're a Chiefs fan because you followed Montana or...?

I was born in L.A all my teams were originally from there. Lakers/Dodgers/Rams. I moved to Nor Cal when i was like 5. |
and you're a Chiefs fan? I'm just trying to understand.
|
yup cause Derrick Thomas, my 2nd fav football player ever.
|
I guess. The Chiefs were a pretty trendy Starters Jacket back in the 90s.
Can't really see how an LA born and raised picks the Kansas City Chiefs out of all teams. |
but props for sticking with us all of these years

where I live the Chiefs used to be the CBS local team in Central Illinois...you know, before Peyton Manning came along and suddenly Indianapolis took over. I should really hate Peyton Manning.

I just saw the Celtics won their 7th straight without Rondo beating the Nuggets in Triple OT.
Watching them I really think Rondo walked up the court too much instead of pushing the ball like they are doing now. They seem to be more of a run and gun team or at least they are playing like that now. |
Quote:
|
i saw media hats throwing out some stat about how Rondo I dont know I guess either holds the ball or would take up a high percentage of the offensive sets, essentially wasting time, or just doing enough to get his points, assists, etc
though good player and they can win like that, now that the ball doesnt move through him it opens it up for everyone to just constantly pass it. With Pierce and KG you have a 1 and 1 inside/outside game and the rest of the piece can compliment it rather than Rondo in a full set going through him, then to Pierce, then to KG. So now the shot percentages are higher on offense. |
well I don't know anything about Rondo this year but he ****ing pwned the Bulls in the postseason and was the best freaking player on the court...
|
I'm pretty sure this run of theirs is just a mini-hot streak. It also looks like a bit of a mirage. Of the seven wins, six were at home and the only road win was at Toronto. Let's see what they do out on the road.

Still, they were below 500 before Rondo got hurt. Playing their best basketball without their best player is a bit surprising. |

Ainge says they rely on him too much which was true. Some games he was the only person scoring decent. Quote:

So it's pretty neat seeing the Nets get their ass kicked by every good to very good team. Thank goodness the Devils are back. Otherwise this would be a rough next 3 months sports-wise.

Kawhi Leonard is a baller. Very underrated player. |
And Boston loses once they go on the road to a terrible Charlotte team. That's what I meant by likely mirage.
|
Quote:
Rondo should feel better now at least. He has been taking alot of grief the last 3-4 days |
it offsets,
they should have lost to Denver. Pierce takes the same exact shot against Charlotte and missed Avery Bradley also got an open look as you can get and missed. It happens, they had a chance just like they did against Denver. It's not like Charlotte pounded them nothing mirage by that at all |

Does anyone buy Jerseys from those foreign sites anymore? I know there were a few different ones... the one I'm trying only has Kyrie Irving Jerseys in XL...

The OKC fans don't like Birdman.

Also, I don't think LeBron misses shots anymore.

1st quarter rape.

Why does LeBron have to play with such a POS?
