Just turned on that show on my XM radio. They are just repeating something reported from an Indianapolis radio show, and they are making it very clear that they think it is a wild rumour which they have no idea about.

The VP of the board is already on record as basically saying that, although tragic, they wouldn't force a KU-KSU package deal if it was for the best that they go to different conferences.

Makes sense, because they dont have as much leverage as, say, the Texas legislature making demands about the sale of their highly-prized flagship school's conference affiliation.

Despite the apparent fact that KU is not tied down, it hasn't made a difference yet.

So what is the update? mizzou is not invited, Neb to the big 10, correct?

yep. People still speculating that Mizzou's bid is coming, but Tiger fans who were previously smug are beginning to sweat a little bit.

So, I just got done with a 13 hour day and don't have the patience to read the posts from today. What happened today? Missouri got used like the fat girl at last call?

The lone piece of absolute concrete information I have is that a resolution for conference realignment has been put on the agenda for the NU board of regents' meeting on Friday. I can give you a link for a 170 page pdf file if you'd like.

There is pretty much no indication that Mizzou has not been or won't be invited.

I am not worried about Missouri's chances to go to the Big 10. If it doesn't happen I will be shocked.

DeezNutz 06-09-2010 06:32 PM

The only reason Nebraska is being invited is because of their women's basketball program.

I wouldn't laugh yet until you know for sure.

Frankly, it makes too much sense that if the Big 10 expands to 16 Missouri should be high on the list. But, between Nebraska getting the first bid, the uncertainty over whether the Big 10 will stop at 12 or not, and a source in an ESPN story saying that Missouri is getting a "cold shoulder", things could get interesting in Columbia.

Well, it's pretty clear at this point that Nebraska climbed over our heads for the first spot, but nobody knows anything beyond that. Not a peep out of Missouri - the complete absence of any COME BACK SHANE! crying on Alden's part leads me to believe that something may still be in the works.

All of the breaking stories are coming from Texas sites, and it's not like they give two shits about what's going to happen to MU.

I was serious with the first two sentences, summary of today?

KC Jones 06-09-2010 06:35 PM

Damnit - this is just awful. I'm going to assume the big 12 completely dissolves now and KU is totally ****ed. Maybe Texas will still want to stay and run what's left of the big 12, but I doubt it. I have to figure MU is going to be announced next. :banghead:

It sucks, but college sports is a big business.

Sure-Oz 06-09-2010 06:35 PM

Thanks guys, i havent been able to keep up all day. Hope Mizzou gets the invite, makes me slightly nervous. Can't wait till this mess is over.

oh, well in that case, nothing official happened.

However, regarding NU to Big 10, we are beyond just a lot of smoke, even ESPN is sticking their necks out that its a done deal. Lots of sources confirming.

Beyond that, nothing but some stories with fewer or less reputable sources, and a whole lot of rumor.
