In that case, they can go **** themselves. Nothing wrong with a man choosing location over money. I applaud him, actually.

Ok, so does Zack get traded or are the rumors cooling down?

oh God no, its going to get white-hot. We're probably not even certain other teams wont join in, there's a whole new division now who previously werent planning on it that may want to jump in to shore up against the pitching rotation from hell.

I would think things would heat up pretty quickly. Garza is the only other pitcher "available" and close to Greinke. All the teams that missed out on Lee or want to add an ace know what the Royals are looking for. Now it's just a matter of which team is willing to give up the biggest haul. It could even come down to a 3 teamer to get all the pieces the Royals are looking for.

I am reading Yankee fans melt the f**k down on another board, and its hilarious. Why, how dare he turn down a bunch of money? So your wife got spit on, come on, whaaat?

Based on what I've heard, asking price for Greinke is beyond nuts, and teams feel he's a VERY good pitcher w/ ace-level season as outlier. 16 minutes ago via TweetDeck

I'm sure the debate will begin...

Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz/Neagle or

Halladay/Lee/Oswalt/Hamels

Frankly, I can not think of a single thing that would have turned out better for the Royals. We were debating that maybe we'd want Lee to go to New York to push both Texas and the AL East, or maybe to Texas to get Montero out of New York. This situation, which would have been laugh-out-loud unlikely yesterday, is wildly better for Greinke's value.

New York is still in a hole, Texas is down an Ace, Toronto might need him, and for f***'s sake now the entire freaking National League is scared of the Phillies. That starting rotation could be a lawn-mower next year, any team harboring hopes of winning the NL pennant may need Greinke to have a chance at surviving a 7-game series.

tk13 12-14-2010 12:04 AM

Everyone is going to say NY or Texas, which makes sense. But I think Toronto actually becomes interesting now... if they could land Greinke they could at least try to make a move in that division. At least a run at a wild card. Rays and Yankees aren't going to suck but they probably have some holes you can attack. That and the entire NL East, obviously.
