Frankly, I can not think of a single thing that would have turned out better for the Royals. We were debating that maybe we'd want Lee to go to New York to push both Texas and the AL East, or maybe to Texas to get Montero out of New York. This situation, which would have been laugh-out-loud unlikely yesterday, is wildly better for Greinke's value.
New York is still in a hole, Texas is down an Ace, Toronto might need him, and for f***'s sake now the entire freaking National League is scared of the Phillies. That starting rotation could be a lawn-mower next year, any team harboring hopes of winning the NL pennant may need Greinke to have a chance at surviving a 7-game series.
