I don't see the average hitting $5.00/gallon this year. If I had to guess, I'd say that $4.25 to $4.50 max is more realistic this year.

Do you get odd looks with your Cockney accent in Denver much?

My normal speaking voice utilizes an American accent, but no, even my British accent is nowhere near close to being cockney.

I read an article stating that how people change their habits, basically just shut down everything, when the national average gets higher than 3.75/gal. I'd say the people that go about setting the prices have definitely taken notice of that, as well.

The average price is the only one of real relevance.

Yes, folks started making changes in the driving habits right around $3.75 if I'm remembering this thread correctly.

Unfortunately, while our demand is down, China's (and others) demand is up 5+%.

Then let THEM absorb the costs of sucking down the oil.

How conscious to you have in efforts to speak American accent? I only ask because this shit interests me and personally though Ozarkian born and raised, my Kentucky family have impacted me enough that I cannot correctly pronounce "for" anymore, and I'm assuming brain damage from booze is the reason why I say "kyar" instead of "car".

This video at 1:39 is how I envision your brand of English sounding like, Dongerman.

[QUOTE=Deberg_1990;8401865]Anyone make any lifestyle changes yet? downsized car? less driving? Cut back on meals, clothes, entertainment?

Thankfully it really doesn't hurt me, I mean it does cut into our extra money, but it has no real impact on how we live daily. If it gets up to $5 a gallon we will definitely be watching our "extra" spending. We've been running pretty tight paying extra towards our current schooling, but we could trim that back a little if needed. Fortunately we don't really buy anything, we don't buy clothes, but maybe once a year, we have a Wii and net flix for entertainment, although we do go out to eat a few times a week. So we maybe spend $50-$60~ a week eating out.

Meh. We still consume almost twice the amount of crude per year than China. I'm just pointing out that while our consumption figures still play a large part of crude pricing, we aren't as "important" in the process as we used to be.
