At least that's what it sounded like during the 15 seconds I could stomach.

Kietzman not on board! We are half way there fellas. Get Jack Harry to join Kietzman, and it makes it amost failsafe that Bubba could be a potential HOFer!

Got back from watching the Omaha game in Des Moines. Omaha trailed almost the whole game, down by one in the 9th. Moose barely missed a 3-run homer, instead doubling in the tying run. After an intentional walk, Kila eventually was up with the bases loaded where he, obviously, took pitches and walked in the game-winning run.

I only saw two games, which isn't nearly enough to judge Moose's defense. He didn't get an opportunity for any extremely difficult plays, but he speared three hard-hit line drives hit off to his side (no dive needed). Hopefully all those errors were just an early bad run or something.

He is still just a DH so if some team places a high value on that I would trade him while his stock is high if you can get a respectable starting pitcher in return.

I'd still rather just pay an aging superstar to hit like teams did with Thome and Vlad the last few years.

Looks like we can put this rumor to bed.

Jayson Stark - the guy who originally started the Soria for Montero rumor - now admits that NY never offered up Montero.

What a pathetic excuse for a journalist.

It took about 30 seconds, after the Royals made Soria their ex-closer, for baseball people to resume second-guessing K.C.'s disinterest in even listening to offers to trade him last year. But here's the deal on one Soria myth that's out there: The Yankees never "offered" Jesus Montero for Soria at any point. But they were clearly among the teams that dialed Dayton Moore's number to ask about Soria, both at the 2010 trading deadline and last winter.

Taking things a bit far aren't you? He happens to be a very good baseball guy who also hits on a lot of rumors. So he got one wrong, big deal.

No, no, no... as a member of the media the only thing we do is sensationalize and/or make shit up and if we're ever wrong about anything we're a pathetic excuse for a journalist/broadcaster. It's only OK for everyone else to make mistakes at work.

But I'm not bitter.

Stark is outstanding. If he missed one, he's earned it.

He went on record saying that NY offered up Montero for Stark, causing a ton of backlash against the Royals and Moore.

He now sprinkles in an article one year later a "whoopsy", without even implying that he did anything wrong.

Yeah, that is pathetic.

I don't think anyone ever thought it was a real offer. If Montero had been available AT ALL, it would have taken much more than Soria.

Yeah, that rumor never passed the smell test, anyway. Cashman is not the kind of moron that would trade his top prospect for a reliever.

siberian khatru 06-08-2011 03:09 PM

At least include the full Stark quote:

"And would they have been willing to discuss a Montero-for-Soria trade on both occasions? Executives all over the game are convinced they would."
