Sunday Night my brother and I took my nephew and our friend's 3 year old(who broke his arm and has a cast to the shoulder) fishing for the last hour of daylight sunday.
They were slaying bluegill and the occasional bass with snoopy poles and worms. The water began to boil on occasion and we wondered what it was....and the idea was confirmed. The 3 year old hooked into a 6lb channel...my brother had to winch it in with a snoopy rod and light test since the boy had 1 arm...and was 3. The line broke at the shoreline but I got the tail. We no more than had it dry and my nephew found himself in the same predicament. After 5 minutes of smoking plastic gears, whining rod and laughing boy....we landed him(He did it, I held the rod steady) a 5lb channel. Those 2 now have a fine photo for their man-book. |

An interesting story:
I went out to a nearby pond the other night. I threw a rubber minnow a few times and nothing. There were a few things hitting the top so I threw a pop-r and caught a few decent bass. The funny part is that the first fish I caught was about 14-15 in. long, and when I removed the hook from his mouth I notice a tail fin sticking out of his throat. I had to see what he had eaten so I gently pulled it out with my needle nose. I was expecting to find a bluegill, but to my surprise it was a bass. Its head was digested already and the only scales left on it were on the last inch or so of the tail. The most surprising thing was that without a head the damn thing was at least 5 in. long. The bass that I caught had a belly full for sure and was still trying to eat my lure! And on a day after a cold front went through when I never would have expected something to hit a top water bait. I gently shoved the "meal" back in the fish's throat, I figured he deserved it, and threw him back. |

Besides, there’s a hayseed run’n round C-Town minus the first two digits of’is right hand from stick’n them in a beavers mouth noodle’n. I’ll let those a little crazier than me do that kinda chit. I’ll drink beer and watch. |
In college once stuck a couple of fingers in a beaver from chanute....suprised I didn't get bitten.
I've got family in the Harrisonville area that catch alot of big flatheads....Its a different kind of fishin' but definitely a skill to be able to get them regularly. |

I won’t try and claim there was any “skill” involved here, it was pure luck be’n in right place at the right time. |
