The reasons why some posters "killed the draft" was for reasons that have little to do with the win tonight. Long-term thinking vs short-term thinking.

The reason they killed the draft is that they wanted short-term fixes. The biggest bitches were that a team in our position can't waste picks on luxury players. Maybe those picks weren't made because of our position. They were made because they were the most talented players on the board.

7:00 Turn on computer, turn on Jets game. Crack knuckles in preparation of typing in all the great things Sanchez does in the game.
7:01-10:15 Sit in silence. Post nothing in the Jets/Ravens thread.
10:16 p.m. Say a quick prayer that Cassel plays as bad as Sanchez so you can save some face.
10:20 "Cassel's first pass sucked ass".
10:21-1:15 a.m Sit in frustration as KC hangs to a lead. Occasional posts about Cassel still sucking, although having the lead takes away from some game enjoyment. Oh, if only Matt could take a sack and fumble the ball. Drat, they won.
1:16 a.m. porn search.
1:30 a.m.- 3:00 a.m. argue with Hootie that he can't just enjoy the win.

Do you pretend to be Mecca when you jackoff?

**** you. I was in this thread last night and said I was wrong his numbers. Of course, I don't check the KC weather and if I had any idea it would be raining, I would have revised that prediction.

Matthews only accounted for 75 yards on the ground.

Now go **** your mother, Assclown.

He had half our receiving yards, our only TD, and at least a couple of great seal blocks. That's a great debut.

This thread is stupid.

That said, anyone showing up in this thread with faux-rage is reading a different board than I am. All we've heard all offseason and all week leading up to this game is how we had no chance. Any thread where people predicted a Chiefs' win or anything positive was immediately met with post after post of sarcasm and nearly every one of those threads turned out like 99% of threads on this board, with the same 4-5 people taking over the thread posting a million times repeating the same negative shit.

And, you can bet that if they Chiefs lost that game that the board would have been littered with "I told you so" threads the other way from the "realists."

So....Mathews would have had 100 more if it wasn't raining? Yeah ok.

And Matt Cassel would have thrown for 360 if it wasn't raining either...

I didn't think the Chiefs would be able to stop San Diego's ground attack and thought that would be the difference between winning and losing.

Everyone knew my opinion on Cassel and the draft. The draftees performed beyond expectations and Cassel performed below expectations.

The Chiefs got a much needed and much deserved win, but they're not going to win consistently until they get better play from the QB position.

68 yards won't cut it for 16 weeks.

Uh, actually what I said was 120 on the ground, 50 in the air.

It's a good thing you were too cowardly to bet me on Matthew's rushing yards and RDMC's total yardage. Sissy cali-boy.

That doesn't even make sense. How does wanting a 5-7 year starter equate to a short-term fix?

As for "most talented player on the board," well, it's far easier to refute that than it is to prove it. Perhaps I could be convinced that Dex and Javi were the most talented but barring that I don't accept that statement as outright fact.

Most of the people who bitched about these picks did so because we had bigger needs. They wanted guys like Cody, Clausen, or a lineman. That's called drafting for need and its short-sighted.
