Texas A&M will doom their football program of any chance to be consistently competitive by moving to the SEC.

They were barely competitive the past 10 years in the Big 12... now they go to the best football conference in America and will have to face the likes of Alabama, LSU, Florida, Auburn, etc. on a regular basis.

They weren't competitive, they needed a 16-1 penalty differencial to barely beat Nebraska t home last year....

But they will get paid.....

Don't worry, Big 12 Commissioner Deloss Dodds is looking for a replacement.

@kbohls: Texas AD DeLoss Dodds told me UT staff "is working on 20 names" for possible replacements for Texas A&M.

@kbohls: Top names UT, I mean Big 12, will consider from several sources: Notre Dame, BYU, Air Force in that order.

Sherman is doing things in College Station. He's been recruiting well in the early stages in both TX and LA and the guy brought a balanced, pro-style variant offense that has been great in every year since his arrival.

This team has had trouble overcoming youth in previous seasons--- most of Fran's leftovers proved to be worthless like the rest of his classes--- but they return something like 39/44 of the two-deep. Still losing recruits to UT of course, but losing less to OU and OSU. A move to the SEC would be amazing for this program.

I agree with every word

Doug Gottlieb tweeted a little while ago that a high ranking A&M source told him that they're going to the SEC along with FSU, Clemson, and......Mizzou.

I'll believe it when I see it but def. interesting.

I beleive T-AM will announce the departure Monday. Clemson will follow soon after. Both will be in the SEC next year.
(from late night sports radio) FSU athletic director told the ACC commissioner they have not been contacted by the SEC & have no desire to leave the ACC.

I think T-AM bolts. Big 12 brings in SMU,Houston & possibly 1 other school.
I agree. It makes for very entertaining SPORTS RADIO

Talk about a meat grinder of a football conference. Finishing 8-4 would be a great season.

Mizzou ain't going anywhere...Alden and co. are content being Texas' bitch.

He and the people in power at Mizzou are gutless.

I don't think Alden's gutless, just vastly overmatched. From eternally getting shafted on bowl selections, to the Big 10 debacle to Anderson, he always strikes me as an amateur poker player who sits in with the pros and loses his life savings in 15 minutes, and just doesn't understand why.

He's Ned Stark at King's Landing. We need Littlefinger.

How can A&M leave the Big 12 so quickly? I thought they had give a full year notification or something.

SEC to Discuss Admission of Texas A&M

Eleven of the 12 Southeastern Conference presidents will meet Sunday at a secret location to discuss the admission of Texas A&M to the league, according to a high-ranking SEC official with first-hand knowledge of the talks.

The official said there was a 30 to 40 percent chance that the presidents could vote against Texas A&M’s membership. He also said there was the issue of which university would become the 14th team, something many in college sports will monitor.

“We realize if we do this, we have to have the 14th,” the SEC official said. “No name has been thrown out. This thing is much slower out of the chute than the media and blogs have made it.”

The official said that three weeks ago, Texas A&M’s president, R. Bowen Loftin, called the SEC commissioner, Mike Slive, and said the Aggies regretted not joining the league last summer. Two weeks ago, Slive and the SEC counsel met with Texas A&M officials. The SEC requested that Texas A&M figure out the legal viability of leaving the Big 12 contract they signed last year.

“They have a contract now,” the SEC official said. “We’re very sensitive about being part of breaking a contract. What we asked them to do was to go settle their issues and not have us be on the table as the agent of causing them to leave.”

The SEC official said he wondered if the SEC presidents would vote for A&M only if they were assured that a team from within one of their states — Florida State, Clemson or Georgia Tech, for example — would not be added.

“I’m going to try and say, don’t bring it up now,” the SEC official said. “That shouldn’t be a condition or part of the negotiation for this next issue. But it could.”
