That's possible with Marshall, who will take a king's ransom to bring in. Have seen as high as $3.5 million for him.

Don't think that would be an issue with anyone else. Howland is unemployed and probably not getting a job if Missouri fails to hire him. Can't imagine they'd have a hard time finding $2 million+ for Howland, and can't imagine he'd turn that down.

Everyone who is connected to him seems to think he wants "reasonable" money.

Just hire Howland and be done with it.

This!
Howland has been my choice all along. He's a proven winner, he's available and he will come at an "affordable" price.

Yep, Lavine had sunk UCLA and Howland brought them back from the dead, it was hard for him to match his success of the first 5 years there thats all.

How "extended" is the athletics budget? If Haith was making 1.3, as reported, then you'd need an extra $2.2 a year to bring in Marshall. Given the hundreds of millions they are pouring into facilities, how in the hell could such a comparatively small amount of money be a real impediment? If they were as strapped as it seems, I don't even know how they could continue with construction, as it seems like any small budgetary hiccup would cripple expansion ideas.

Agree, Even with the budget difference, the fan base will have increased attendance and merchandise sales that will at least close that gap some and then if he wins here the profits will only increase.

Most state agencies are required to post ALL open positions as part of the search. Hell, in Texas they post with Texas Workforce Commission. (The unemployment folks.)

Alden's greatest fan (Brady Deaton) is no longer his boss. R. Bowen Loftin is not going to give Alden the rope he would have received from Deaton. He also will likely hold Alden to a higher standard in general.

Because Loftin has a track record of being a cheap ass at aTm?
