Some jackass politicians got it in their head that they are keeping people employed by restricting it. However, they don't have enough people to work so gas stations are closed anyway. Every time it gets discussed, the general population loses their minds. I think we'll be getting a mix of full serve and self serve within the next year. At least I hope.

displacedinMN 06-14-2022 06:04 PM

People worried about safety. Dont want people lighting a heater while pumping gas.It is done billions of times every day without a problem, yet NJ thinks they are saving lives.

“We’re definitely seeing demand destruction at the gas stations,” said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for OPIS, which tracks prices and the volume of gasoline pumped to compile the daily price information released by AAA.

The amount of gasoline pumped at the nation’s 130,000 gas stations is down 7% for the week ending June 11 compared to same period last year, and down 17% from the same week in pre-pandemic 2019, according to OPIS data.

In the first full week of June, gasoline sales at U.S. stations were down about 8.2% compared with the same week last year—the 14th consecutive week that sales have lagged behind 2021 levels, according to surveys by energy-data provider OPIS.

In the week ended June 10, the Energy Information Administration’s measure of implied demand—an estimate of products supplied to consumers—declined by roughly 110,000 barrels a day from the prior week, to about 9.1 million barrels a day. That figure is down from about 9.4 million barrels a day the same time last year.

Nice! What year is your Camry? Ours is a 2017 and I love it. For a basic sedan, it drives well and gets good gas mileage. Gonna drive ours till the ****ing wheels fall off.

Bought new in 2002.
Has 220,000 on it. I've pounded on this car hard.
At about 120k I said **** it. Let's chase crippled snow geese through the corn fields with it. And turn this Camry into a mobile toolbox..
It's been in several wrecks (none we're my fault) and still has a clean title. No Savage title yet.
Replaced the transmission at 176k . Had I changed the transmission fluid just once. I'm sure that transmission would still be pushing the Camry down the road.
I've replaced the original starter with a few after market starters.
That started at about 55k. I finally went to a U-pull It
And grabbed a factory Toyota starter and that problem went away.
Replaced the struts about 20k miles ago.
That's the maintenance record.

The 2.4s do burn oil. But they run forever

If your 2017 has the 2.5?
It may never die.

FTR, $5 per gallon gas prices in 2007 (the date of this thread) would be about $3.55 today. Given global politics, I'll take $4.29 (considering Putin's crap.)

You are getting 27% less per gallon out of E85 so you are effectively paying $4.10 per gallon, plus your time for having to fill up much more frequently.

Hopefully it isn't ****ing your engine.

pretty funny the cost of a barrel of oil and the national average have both dropped in recent weeks, but here the prices haven't, hell station nearest the house creeped up two cents a gallon overnight last night to $5.31. If you look at the price of gasoline, there was a massive and sudden jump a few days after the invasion began. That increase is still part of the reason why crude (and gasoline) is still high, just not the only reason.

Oh, and $4.77/gallon and crude is down 2.8% at $97.19

Yeah, a person shouldn't think that if it comes down a little in price that this is better then what it was and accept it. These high prices aren't right and need to be addressed.
