To sum it up.

Many teams would like another solid starting pitcher to add to their rotations.

Dayton Moore is asking a boatload for Greinke which he's not going to get from the big teams. Unfortunately he has only won like 1 game or something in his career in AL East parks.

The good thing is that the Royals aren't in a position where they HAVE to trade him. He can still be a productive player while we sign guys like Jeff Franceour and Melky Cabrera..

:banghead:

We? Ugh. Can you please stop being a Royals fan?

I'd be fine with no deal. This is not an Arabian market, the price is the price. If you dont want to pay it, get the hell out of our store.

Rany hits a homerun again.

I agree.

You just have to be sure that the store is charging the right price.

You can't blame teams for not trading you their complete system for a guy who pretty much walked away from the game.

I personally think he's grown past that with age but you're talking about other organization who look at everything including performance on the east coast and personal issues.

ChiefsCountry 12-15-2010 09:33 PM

I kind of like trading with the Nationals (if they would depart with some pieces)

Jordan Zimmerman or Ross Detwiler
Derek Norris (Kansas boy and a catcher)
Danny Espinosa or Ian Desmond
Whatever else they want to throw at us prospect wise.

Thats who i would be trying to target.

Demonpenz 12-15-2010 09:37 PM

Dayton more giving the arabian goggles to Theo is fun

Honestly, I disagreed with a big part of Rany's post. He notes the two steps to becoming a contender:

Stage 1 is to get the most talent into the organization possible. Stage 2 is to arrange that talent into the framework of a major-league roster.

Contrary to what Rany suggests, we are NOT at stage 2, and in this regard things aren't much different from '04. No question that our system is looking flush right now, but we don't have anything yet. Nothing. Imagine a worst-case scenario and Moose and Hosmer (likely two of the first to arrive) come up and flounder. Now we're looking considerably thinner with position prospects. Myers would be our one remaining potential superstar, since no one is putting Colon in this category.

Get talent, position be damned. Guys can always be traded. This is why Andrew Miller was still a fantastic selection by the Detroit Tigers. He was a very valuable chip that was flipped for a legit cornerstone.

I think some of us have alex gordon syndrome. You know the symptoms, a good year in the minors by one of these prospects and as a fan it scares you.

Don't worry deez these guys are legit. And if they aren't we will sell it to you that the next crop WILL BE. Its a process.

I sure have that of which you speak.

Moustakas is fatter than Butler from what I've heard...

I hope you're right. I think Moose might end up being the weakest of the big three (position players). Lots of power, but a lowish OBP.

Hosmer's stance reminds me a lot of Damon, and if his power develops, he could be beastly.

But I have the suspicion that Myers is going to end up being the superstar, though Hosmer was my favorite pick of the three at the time of the draft.

Keep playing that song and all you will end up with are 2 draft picks, not very smart.

Yeah, but the flipside to that is that Dayton's strength has definitely been in the draft.

DeezNutz 12-15-2010 10:11 PM

Or Moose comes up and rakes, and Hosmer arrives shortly thereafter and shows he's the goods...and Greinke agrees to an extension with the Royals.

Even if he walks, two high picks with how we've been drafting would be worth FAR more than middling prospects.
