I'd start listening on Hosmer for sure. Set to make 10+ next year and he's so overrated. He's got a 0.2 fWAR and he's 13th among 1B in weighted runs created. I don't think you can fool many GMs anymore with the analytics being so prevalent, but maybe someone sees him breaking thru to 24HR power and not all these bullshit grounders.

I'd be fine playing Moose or Cuthbert there next year and using that $ to buy a starter

Few more days those extremely high demands should drop

I really don't blame them. Davis is controllable for an entire year longer than Chapman, and has been the better pitcher.

If the Royals don't get what they want then they're just not going to trade him. I highly doubt they trade him for anything less than a comparable package that the Yankees got.

Would need to be sweetened a bit, due to the extra year of control at a very low cost.

I doubt it. They don't have to move him, especially if they think they can make a run again next season.

It's painfully obvious that they need a minimum of two (if not three) starting pitchers and I just can't see them making a run next year without trading assets.

I'd hate to see Davis leave before the end of the 2017 season but if the trade results in a starting pitcher with controllable years, they should make the move, IMO.

They're going to go:
Kennedy
Duffy
Ventura

Almost certainly. Vargas will be 18 months removed from TJ and will have had a normal offseason. Would guess he's in the mix also.

I want to add two guys, minimum, to that group. And ideally three.

I'm OK with one being Mills or Strahm, I guess. But they can't be the only two.

Minor will also be in the mix. But yeah, two guys of insurance would be a good idea.

Wade has a sparkling postseason record & stats.

Chapman has none.

KChiefs1 07-25-2016 04:25 PM

No way they trade him in the division.

Keep in mind with Davis, it's not just that he's controllable next year. After 2017 his team can extend to him a QO, which if he declines the team pockets a draft pick. That's a very valuable asset that has to be factored into the asking price of a trade.
