Lol, you're talking like Hopkins would be some kind of band-aid, and that he's washed apparently, since you seem to think he's too old to play at a high level anymore and he's just a name.
Though even at his advanced age and questionable abilities, he'd still be far and away the best, most talented and most productive Chiefs WR should he come to KC. Never mind that Travis himself is 34 years old, so I honestly don't know what we're talking about when it comes to Deandre's age.
If Deandre becomes a Chief he'll be extended for at least a three-year deal, otherwise none of this makes any sense. So we can skip the band-aid mentality.
And yeah, Hopkins would basically ensure another SB appearance. Probably two more. And no more hoping a 2nd- 3rd-round draft pick pans out. No more wondering why we don't run slants for first downs. No more offensive stall outs for 3+ series in a row against the better defenses. No more needing Pat to play at God Emperor level just to beat BUF, JAX or CIN. No need for Andy to have to scheme guys open all the time.
I mean, we already lean on Travis to be the go-to do-it-all receiver, why on Earth would be turn up our noses at having another elite receiver on the field? It only makes everything easier. Adn when facing the defenses that are pretty good at slowing down Travis, Deandre would be there to take up the slack. Or if Pat's having a below-average day, no problem, Hopkins will catch anything anywhere near him. |
